It .the plate is Jformed, as shown in Fig. t, with slots o to receive the fastening sleeve screw h for the pads, the latter may be adj usted in directions toward or from each other, while the pads may also be turned upon the plate as with a swivel movement, thus bringing them to any desired positions and to bear upon the affected parts as may be required in any given case.
It is plain to be seen that the piece d may be dispensed with by lengthening the inner arm of the loverf, so as to carry it under the spiral spring, having a hole formed in it to clear the screw Z. I` prefer, however, to einploy the piece d, as shown.
The cushion E extends high above the mouth of the cup, the latter serving, however, to keep it clear ot' the swinging pad B.
What t claim as my invention. is-
1. A truss-pad consisting of athick soft an nular ring of rubber, the bottom or Viflat portion. of which is ytflaptd'to rest upon t'he'front platte; a eup-shaped piece ttingwithiu the ring with its sides projecting over the lower artof the innerl portion of the ring and adapted to hold the same in contact with the plate, a yielding pad secured to the cupnhaped piece, and means for holding the bottom of the eup-shaped piece against the plate, substantially as described.

In a truss, the combination, with a trussplate, of a perforated front plate, a cup-shaped piece, the bottom of which is provided with a screw-threaded perforation, an annular ring outside of the cup-shaped piece', a springactuated pad within the ring, a ,hollow sleevcscrew through the plates and into the bottom of the cup-shaped piece, and an adjustingscrew through the hollow screw for regulating the spring-pressure of the pad, substantially as described.v
