SOAP-BUBBLE TOY.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 445,807, dated February 3, 1891. Application filed June 12, 1890. Serial No. 355,158. (No model.)

To a. whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, WILLIAM C. FARRAND,

of Arlington, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, a citizen of the United States,have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Soap-Bubble Toys, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to an improved soapbubble toy of that class by which a large number of bubbles can be produced from one charge of the reservoir, and which can be supplied at comparatively small price, owing to its simple construction; and the invention consists of a soap-bubble toy which comprises a reservoir having an opening at its side, a hollow cone inserted in said opening and provided with a supply-opening at its inner end, and a cap for the reservoir, said cap being provided with a mouth-piece and a tubular stem, through which the air is forced into the reservoir and the soap and water forced out through the cone, so as to produce the bubbles.

1n the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a side elevation of my improved soap-bubble toy. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section of the same; and Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section through the reservoir and cone on the line 1 1, Fig. 1.

Referring to the drawings, A represents the reservoir, preferably of cylindrical shape, which is closed at one end and open at the opposite end, so as to be closed by a detachable cap B, which is provided with a mouthpiece b. An opening a is formed in the side of the cylindrical reservoir A, said opening serving for receiving a hollow cone 0, the rounded-off apex of which is provided with supply-openings d, through which the soap and water from which the bubbles are formed are supplied to the cone. Into the mouthpiece b of the detachable cap B is inserted a tubular stem D, which is securely attached to the mouth-piece b, and which serves for introducing the air to the interior of the reservoir A, the pressure of said air serving to force some of the soap and water into the cone. By gently blowing into the mouthpiece the required quantity of liquid will be forced through the supply-orifices of the cone 0 into the same and form at the mouth of the same into a soap-bubble. The formation of bubbles can be continued until the contents of the reservoir are exhausted. The reservoir can be conveniently filled with liquid and the formation of large and small bubbles be continued until the reservoir is empty.

All the parts composing my improved soapbubble toy are preferably made of wood, and the use of sheet metal, rubber, or other material dispensed with, so that my improved soapbubble toy can be furnished at a low price and be placed within the reach of every child.

Having thus described myinvention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Pat ent A soap-bubble toy composed of a reservoir closed at one end and provided with an opening in its side, a hollow cone inserted in the side opening and provided with supply-openings at its inner end or apex, and a detachable cap having a mouth-piece provided with a tubular stem extending from the mouthpiece into the interior of the reservoir, substantially as set forth.
