0. P. 82; F. L. FILSON.
MEASURING VESSEL.
No. 432,995. Patented-July 29, 1890 I Wz'inwsasa UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLEY F. FILSON AND FRANK L. FILSON, OF POINT PLEASANT, VEST VIRGINIA.
MEASURING-VESSEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 432,995, dated July 29, 1890.
Application filed February 25, 1890. Serial No. 341,672. (No model.)
1'0 cold whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, OHAELEY F. FILsoN and FRANK L. FILSON, citizens of the United States, residing at Point Pleasant, in the county of Mason and State of 'West Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Merchants Shot-Cases; and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The special object of the invention is to provide a shot-case in which the diiferent sizes of shot may be clearly seen, and from which the desired weight or quantity may be drawn directly into any suitable receptacle brought by the buyer to a merchants store or which the said merchant may furnish.
Figure 1 of the drawings is an elevation in perspective; Fig. 2, a vertical cross-section; Fig. 3, a detail view of the stand or support; Fig. 4, a detail view of the tube with its valves, lever, and spring as ordinarily used in a powder-flask or shot-bag; Fig. 5, a detail view of the annular seat which sustains the valves and enables them to hold the weight which presses on them without being bent out of their proper plane.
In the drawings, A represents the case divided into as many compartments as there are sizes of shot. This case has for each compartment the cover (L and funnel-shaped bottom a. On this bottom screws the upper end of the tube 0, and in the tube 0 a sliding tube 0 is held at different points of adjustment by a clampserew c", which may be loosened and moved up or down in the slot 0 of the tube 0, so as to make a measure for diiferent quantities of shot. The middle pivoted lever II, to which each valve 0 is pivoted at an equal distance from the fulcrum, is held out at one end by the spring 0 secured at one end upon the tube 0. The lower valve 0 in the tube 0 is pivoted in one of the holes h of the lever II, to suit the adjustment of the tube G.
\Vhat we claim as new is In merchants shot-eases, the tube O,screwed to the bottom a of a shot-case, and the tube 0, adjustable in said tube C}, each tube provided with a slide-valve c, in combination with a clampscrew c movable in a slot 0 of tube C, and a lever H, having the holes h, the said lever being connected with each valve 0, substantially as shown and described, whereby the tubes C C may be relatively adj usted to measure diiferent quantities of shot.
In testimony whereof we aifix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
