BLIND FOR BRIDLES.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 422,133, dated February 25, 1890. Application filed April 9,1889- Serial No. 306,499- (No model.)

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ELIAS LINnBLoM, of Biggsville, in the county of Henderson and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Blinds for Bridles, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved blind which can be quickly attached to or detached from a bridle of any form.

The invention consists of certain parts and details and combinations of the same, as will be hereinafter fully described, and then pointed out in the claims.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, formingapart of this specification, in which sirnilar letters of reference i11- dicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improvement as applied. Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the same, and Fig. 3 is an enlarged perspective view of the improvement.

The bridle A,of any approved construction, is provided with the usual side straps B, connected at or near their lower ends by a buckle O with the straps D, fastened to the bit-ring of the bridle. Each blind E is pro vided with the usual flap F, on one end of which is secured a strap G, extending a short distance beyond the upper edge of the flap F, and provided with an aperture near its outer end, through which is adapted to pass the pin C of the buckle C before the strap B is secured on the buckle by the said pin 0, so that the upper end of the strap G rests between the end of the strap B and the upper end of the strap D when the said straps B and D are connected with each other, as is plainly shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

111 the flap F of the blind E is also formed an opening H on the side on which the strap G is secured. Through this opening H is adapted to pass one end of a strap I, carrying at its other end a buckle J, adapted to be buckled into the end of the strap 1 by its pin passing through an aperture K in the end of the strap I.

When the blind is to be attached to the bridle A, the end of the strap B is detached from the buckle C, after which the aperture in the strap G of the blind is passed over the pin 0 of the buckle O. The strap B is then secured to the buckle O in the usual manner, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, after which the strap I is passedaround the lower end of the strap B and the strap D, and the ends are buckled together by the buckle J engaging with its tongue or pin the aperture K, as is plainly shown in- Figs. 1 and 2-. The blind E is thus secured to the side strap of the bridle A.

It will be seen that the blind can be easily detached whenever desired by unbuckling the buckle J and removing the strap G from the pin 0'.

Having thus fully described my invention,

I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A blind for bridles, having a strap G p'rojecting at right angles to its upper edge, at the inner end thereof, and a slit H near its lower edge at right angles thereto, and .a strap provided with a buckle and extending through said slit around the inner edge of the blind, substantially as set forth.

2. The combination, with the bridle A, having check-straps D, provided at their upper ends with a buckle C, and the straps B, passed through said buckles, of. the blinds having straps G projecting from their upper edges at the inner ends thereof and engaging the tongues of the said buckles under the straps B, and provided below the said straps G at right angles thereto with straps Lembracing the straps D, and having buckles, substantially as set forth.
