TRANSPARENT FILLER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 424,080, dated March 25, 1890.
Application filed May 13, 1889- Serial No. 310,612. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JOSEPH A. SKERRY andJOSEPH DEBOSIER, British subjects, and residents of the city and county of Worcester, State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Composition of Matter called Transparent Filler, to be used for filling the pores of wood and as a substitute for shellac, of which the following is a specification.
Our composition consists of the following ingredients, combined in the proportions stated, viz.: boiled linseed oil, one gallon; spirits of turpentine, one gallon; Japan drier, one quart; dry (air slaked) lime, sixteen pounds; these to be thoroughly mixed and allowed to stand for one month, with occasional stirrings, and is then to be boiled for a few minutes. After that it is ready for use, and
if too thick it should be thinned by adding more turpentine, and is applied like varnish or paint to the wood. Being transparent, it
