RACK FOR EXHIBITING LACES.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 413,605, dated October 22, 188.9.

Be it known that I, GASPAR H. KROEGER, of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee, and in the'State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Devices for Exhibiting Embroid eries, Laces, dac.

and I do' hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.

My invention relates to devices for exhibiting laces, embroideries, and analogous materials; and it consists in certain peculiarities of construction, as will be hereinafter described, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective View illustrating my device; Fig. 2, a horizontal section, looking'down; Fig. 3, a detail sectional view, and Fig. 4. a detail of one of the reels.

Referring by letter to the drawings, A represents a casing, usually constructed with glass sides and, doors, said casing being of any suitable dimensions, and, if found desirable, may be divided into two or more compartments.

Within the casing A, I pivotally suspend a series of frames B, preferably consisting of a horizontal top and base-pieces et b, united by vertical rods c c', that are preferably tubular. The rods c are longer than the ones c, and have their ends extended through the parts a b, to form the pivots on which the frames swing, these pivots being set in suitable bearings, preferably consisting of plates d,that are secured to the top and iioor e f of the casing and provided with sockets g. The vertical rods c c are perforated at suitable Y intervals along their length Vto receive the ends of transverse rods C, each preferably provided with a series of stops h. The floor 4o f of the casing is provided with tracks el and the base-pieces b ofthe frames with wheels 7c, that operate upon said tracks.

Upon the transverse rods C, I hang a series of reels YD, that are each preferably constructed of a single suitably-bent Wire, each reel having hook-shaped ends m, that forni the means for removable connection with said rods. The reels are designed to have Wound thereon the embroideries, laces, or analogous materials desired to be exhibited, and the tops of one set overlap the bottoms of the set depending yfrom the rod next above when the frames are filled. The frames B usually have two pairs of the vertical rods parallel to one another, each pair being united by the transverse rods C, asillustrated by Figs. l and 2. By this construction of the fra-mes I am enabled to exhibit a great variety of embroideries or analogous materials, and, as before stated, the casing can be divided into a series of compartments of such dimensions as maybe desirable for the exhibition of a greater or less number of reels; or the frames may themselves be of any desirable length in proportion to a single compartment for the same purpose. The stops h on the transverse rods C of the frames prevent the reels D from having lateral play when hung thereon.

In the operation of my invention the door `-or doors of the casing being opened, the

`transverse rods, any one or more of them can be readily removed for the purpose of closer inspection. lVhen the compartment. or compartments of the casing are made sufficiently large to contain a large number of frames, the latter may be so arranged that one half of them will swing in one direction and the other half in an opposite direction.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The combination of a suitable casing, a series of swinging frames arranged Within the casing, a series of transverse rods connected to each frame, a series of stops arranged on each of the rods, and a series of reels provided with hooks for engagement with said rods between the stops thereon, substantially yas set forth.
