L l N l M E N T SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 419,372, dated January 14, 1890.
Application filed September 16, 1889. Serial No. 324,112. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES M. SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at London, in the county of Shelby and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Liniment, of which the following is a specification.
Hyinvention consists in a liniment or medicine for internal and external use which may be used for diarrhea, colic, headache, neuralgia, toothache, 850., and may also be used for animals as Well as persons.
This liniment or medicine is composed of the following ingredients, compounded together in substantially the proportions as follows: oil of pennyroyal, one and one-half dram; oil of calamus, one dram; oil of sassafras, two drains; oil of origanum, two drains; oil of Winter-green, two drams; essence of peppermint, one and one-half dram; gum-camphor, three drains; tincture of myrrh, one and one-half dram; spirits of ammonia, two drams; chloroform, two drams; tincture of catechu, two drams; gum of pine, two drains; spirits of turpentine, three drams; alcohol, one quart.
There may of course be slight variations made in the above-named ingredients with-- out departing from my invention; but the in- Having thus fully described my said inven- I tion, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A medicine or liniment composed of oil of pennyroyal, oil of calamus, oil of Sassafras, oil of origanum, oil of winter-green, essence of peppermint, gum-camphor, tincture of myrrh, spirits of ammonia, chloroform, tincture of catechu, gum of pine, spirits of turpentine,
and alcohol, mixed and compounded together in substantially the proportions above set forth.
