UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES M. CALHOUN, OF PLYMOUTH, PENNSYLVANIA.
WATCH -BOW FASTENING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 415,996, dated November 26, 1889.
Application filed August 19, 1889. Serial No. 321,273. (No model.)
substantially as hereinafter more fully shown and described.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a vertical section of my invention. Fig. 2 is a plan view of one of the fastenings. Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail view in section of one side of the bow.
In-constructing my watch-bows for stemwinding watches I employ watchstem A, having integral therewith right-angular arms a a, provided with sockets b b, for reception of stemmed cones D. The ends of the bows B are apertured for reception of the stems B of cones D, the cones being tapered and 1engthened from their vertex to form the stems shown. The stems B project through orifices formed at either end of bows B, and their ends are riveted and fitted flush with the periphery of the bows. cones D are first inserted in sockets b, and then metallic sleeve 0 is fitted into stem A, which completes the work, sleeve 0 fitting flush against the inner periphery of the stem. As thus shown, an inexpensive and highlyeflicient watch-bow for stem-winding watches is constructed.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A watch-bow for stem-winding watches, consisting of a stem having socketed rightangular arms for reception of stemmed cones for securing the bow ends, the cones being secured by a sleeve inserted in the stem, substantially as shown and described.
2. In a watch-bow for stem-wi'ndin g watches, the combination of the stem having arms, the stemmed cones, and the sleeve for securing the bow ends, substantially as shown, and for the purpose described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JAMES M. CALHOUN.
