Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 4037!, dated October 13, 1863.

To. all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SAMUEL D. LILLEY, of Ripley, Brown county, Ohio, have inventeda new and useful Tobacco-Fork, to be used for the purpose of passing up and hanging in barns or sheds sticks of tobacco for drying; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the eonf struction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making a part of this specilieation.

The nature of niy invention consists in a fork with four tines for the purpose of elevating and placing tobacco-sticks on racks in barns or other places used for drying the saine.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use niy invention, I will now proceed to describe it, reference being had to the drawing, which represents the fork in perspective.

To the oval-shaped piece of material O D E, of any given dimensions, make at the ends C and E thereof the forks A C B and M E N, the

under prongs of the forksto be slightly curved upward. Make at the point D, midway between the ends O and E, the shoulder or stern D H, of convenient length to be fitted into the wooden handle of the fork, as shown in the drawing.

The fork may be made of iron, steel, and other metals, also of wood.

The stick, with the tobacco strung upon it, is placed in the forks A O B and M E N and handed up or hung in the barn, as may be required. f

Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A tobacco-fork constructed and operating in the manner and for the purpose herein set forth.
