PETER F. MCCARTY AND ROBERT SEYTER, OF CORNING, NEV YORK; SAID SEYTER ASSIGNOR TO SAID MCCARTY.
BOTTLE-WASH ER.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Letters Patent No. 409,113, dated August 13, 1889.
Application filed August Z4, 1888. Serial No; 283,675 (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it` known that we, PETER F. MCCARTY and ROBERT SEYTER, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Corning, in the county of Steuben' and State of New York,
have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottle-IVashers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention pertains to certain new and useful improvements in bottle-washers, having for its object the provision of new and improved highly-efficient means for effecting the washing or cleansing of a bottle by sprays of water ejected from a rapidly-revolving jettube.
The invention therefore comprises the details of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, substantially as hereinafter fully set forth, and particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a vertical sectional view of our improved bottle-washer, taken on the line w w, Fig. 2, which is a horizontal sectional view on the line a: Fig. l. Fig. 3 is adetail plan view.
Referring to the drawings, A designates the` cylindrical housing or boxing, and d the water-supply pipe, into which the lower neck a of said housing is screwed, said neck being provided with a hexagonal flange A', to permit of the application thereto of a wrench or other instrument. This housing or boxing has a separable bottom d2, in a central aperture of which is disposed a steel plug CL3, resting at its lower end upon a transversely-disposed wedge-shaped pin a4, passed through the neck a. By means of this pin the plug can be raised or lowered, as desired. To the 4o top of housing or boxing A is connected an upper neck l), wherein is formed a chamber b. Apertures b2 are formed in bottom a2, to permit the outflow of water.
B B are twol curved or bent pipes, connected at their lower ends to opposite points of the neck a', and the upper end of pipe B opens into the water-chamber b', while the pipe B opens obliquely into the housing or boxing A, near the upper end thereof. Each 5o pipe is preferably composed of two parts united by a collar b3, to permit of their separation when the boxing or housing is to be removed from its separable bottom.
C is the jet-tube passed through close-fitting apertures of neck b and housing or boxing A, and in its lower end is secured a pointed steel plug d, which rests upon the plug a3. To this jet-tube C is rigidly secured a wheel D, with which the water entering housing or boxing A is designed to come in 6o direct contact and cause the revolution thereof. and of the tube C. The tube C has a series of perforations d located within waterchamber b', and near its upper end is provided with a series of inclined apertures d2, extending upwardly from their inner ends. Upon the upper end of tube C are secured, by a screw da, rubber arms E E, which, in the rapid revolution of tube C, will aid in cleansing the bottle placed over said tube.
In practice, water passing from pipe a will enter pipes B B and pass into water-chamber b and housing or boxing A. That entering chamber b will pass up through tube C and out through the upper inclined apertures thereof, while that entering housing or boxing A will cause the rapid revolution of wheel D, and with it tube C. It will thus be seen that a rapid and continuous flow of water will be had, and that by reason of the revolution 8o of tube C and the rubber arms the bottle on said tube will be thoroughly and effectively cleansed in a short space of time.
Our invention is extremely simple, cheap, and durable, and as it comprises but few parts 8 5 is not liable to get out of order or become disarranged.
Ve claim as our invention-` l. As an improvement in bottle-washers, the housing or boxing having an upper wa- 9o ter-supply chamber, the water-pipes opening, respectively, into said chamber and said housing or boxing, the jet-tube having an upper apertured end provided with rubber arms, and a series of apertures in said chamber, and a wheel. secured on said tube within said housing or chamber, substantially as set forth.
2. The herein-described improved bottlewasher, comprising the housing or boxing having the upper and lower necks, the waterroo supply pipes connected to said lower neck, In testimonywhereof weaiiixonrsignatures and opening, respectively, into said housing in presence of two witnesses. or boxing and into said neck, the jet-tube r w Y f passing through and extending above said 5 chamber and provided with apertures d cl2, J J
the wheel secured to said tube, and the rub NVitnesses: bei' arms attached to the upper end of said MORRIS A. OBER,
jet-tube,substantiallyasshown and described. i J. A. RONEY'.
