JOHN E. ootns, or OANARSIE, NEW YORK.
TWINE-HOLDER.
SPZECIPICATIONforming part of Letters Patent 110,393,619, dated November 27, 1888.
Application filed March 6, 1688. Serial No. 266,382. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN E. (Jones, a citizen of the UnitedStates, residing at Oanarsie, Long Island, Kings county, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Twine-Holders, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
My invention relates to certain improvements in devices for holding twine, and particularly designed for use in stores; and the'oba twine-holder adapted for attachment beneath the desk or counter entirely out of the way, and having means whereby the twine is brought into an exposed position for convenient hand ling when required. This objectI accomplish by the construction and arrangement shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved twine-holder,shown attached to the under side ofa counter; and Fig, 2 is an end view of the same, taken from the front.
Let a represent an open cup shaped receptacle adapted to hold a ball of twine, 1). Extending from the upper part of this receptacle is along arm, (2, which is provided with a V- shaped opening, d, leading into the receptacle, through which the twineisled out to the front of the counter, where it is convenient for use whenever required. On each side of the arm cis provided an ontwardly-proiecting tlange,c.
fis a hanger adapted to hold the arm 0 and permitof its sliding therein, being formed with a recess to correspond tothe under part of the arm, and having offsets h h to serve as bearings for the flanges ee,so that the twine-holder may slide to and fro therein. The hangerpiece f is secured to the under side of the counter ]t' by means of screws i t, passing through the flangcsjj. As shown in Fig. 1, the top of the receptacle, after the ball oftwine is placed therein, is set up close to the under side of the counter, with the end of its arm coming flush with the front of the same, so that it is entirely out of the way, while the end of the twine is in a position to be readily taken in the hand. \Vben it becomes necessary to replenish the twine, it is only required to slide the holder out from its hanger, when access may be readily had to its interior.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
The receptacle a, liavi ng grooved arm 0, provided with flanges ee,eombi ned with the hanger f, provided with the offsets h h, as shown and OWEN MoMAHoN, S. J. Jones.
