Description

(No Model.)
A. G. MORITZ. ATTACHMENT FOR GHILDRENS CHAIRS.
N0. 391,637. Patented Oct. 23, 1888.
WI TNESSES:
lilirrn dramas arrarr ADAM G. MORITZ, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE- HALF TO THE PHILADELPHIA SPECIALTY COMPANY.
ATTACi-EMENT FOR CHILDRENS CHAIRS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 391,637, dated October 23, 1888.
Application tiled January 19. 1888. Serial No. 261,327. (No model.)
To all whom it mciy concern.-
Be it known that I. ADAM G. l IoRITLa citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Attachments to Childrens Chairs, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawing.
My invention consists of means for preventing children from falling from their chairs, as will be hereinafter fully set forth.
The figure represents a perspective view of an attachment to a childs chair embodying my invention.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figure.
Referring to the drawing, A represents a childs chair of well-known construction. B represents an eye or ring which is connected with the foot-rest C thereof, and D represents a strap passing freely through said eye, having its ends provided with loops E.
The operation is as follows: When the child is seated, its limbs are passed through the loops E, and the latter are sufficiently tightened so as to be prevented from disengage ment therefrom, and thus while the child is permitted freedom of motion sufficient for all purposes it is restrained from rising to any material extent and falling over the tray or guard of the chair.
The loops E are provided with slots or buckles F, whereby they may be adjusted to the size of the limbs of the child, and also opened and closed when necessary for the application and removal of the strap to and from the child.
The eyes B may be connected with a round, leg, or other portion of the chair, in which case the length of the strap requires adjustment according to the necessities of the case. The device is equally applicable to childrens carriages, cribs, and other places which achild may occupy, so as to prevent it from falling out of the same.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. A childs chair having an eye or ring secured thereto, in combination with a strap having at both of its ends adjustable loops, said strap being adapted to operate freely in said ring, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. A device for the purpose named, consisting of a strap having loops secured to both of its ends, and a ring secured to a chair, said strap working freely in said ring, said parts being combined substantially as described.
ADAM Gr. MORITZ.
