VAPOR-STOVE,
FJPEUIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 390,870, dated October 9,1888.

To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALBERT, J. LINDEMANN, of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee,and
in the State of XVisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vapor- Stoves; and I do hereby declare that the folthe flange or cornice of each of these burners with one, two, or more conductingtubes that terminate in proximity to that of another burner or burners in the series, whereby in case one of said burners may be lighted and the other or others turned on an automatic ignition of the latter will be accomplished, this automatic ignition also taking place in case of the accidental going out of the flame or leakage from any cause whatever of one or more 01' the burners in the series less than the whole number, thus-causing a consumption of the escaping vapors and preventing unpleasant odors and dangerous gases from accumulating in the apartment where the stove may be employed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a plan view of a vapor-stove illustrating my invention, and Fig. 2 a detail seetional view of the same.
Referring by letter to the drawings, A represents the top of a single generator vaporstove;'B, the mixing-chamber; O, the induction-tnbes, and D the burner-needles. These parts being all of the usual well-known construction and arrangement, it is not deemed necessary to describe them in detail.
Each cap E of the several burners F is provided with a flange or cornice, a, that is preferably concave upon its under side, whereby a gutter, b, is formed that entirely surrounds the main portion of the burner, to which this cap may be applied, and serves as an accumulator for the generated vapors that escape from said burner prior to ignition, The flange or cornice not only serves the purpose just de scribed, but also acts to spread the flame, and thereby cause its dili'usion over a greater area, thus giving each burner a greater heating capacity without increasing the consumption of. the vapor-producing substance.
The flange or cornice aof each burner is connected to one, two, or more conducting-tubes, G, each of the latter terminatingin proximity to another of the burners in the series. In case one burner is lighted and the fluid turned on for another, the generated vapor for the latter will naturally accumulate under the flange or cornice a of its respective burner-cap,and will be deflected therebyinto and seek an outlet at that end of a conducting-tube, G, that terminates in proximity to said lighted burner, the travel of this vapor being accelerated by the suction of the flame.
The moment any of the vapor comesin contact with the flame ignition takes place and instantaneously extends back through the conducting-tube to the burner from which said vapor may be escaping, thereby lighting the same for work.
Should either of the burners be blown out or otherwise accidentally extinguished, or leak from any cause whatever, the above described operation will take place, thereby causing said burner to reignite and continue the consumption of the vapor, thus preventing the latter from escaping out into the apartment where the stove may be set up.
The parts of the burners exclusive of the caps are of the usual construct-ion, and the latter are severally retained-in operative position by the ordinary means, and though I have described my improvements in connection with a vapor-stove having a single generator, they are equally applicable to stoves employing individual generators for each burner,or, in fact, any style of burner.
In stoves that generate the vapor from a single burner, or that have more than two burners, it is preferred to have the conductingtnbes G, that connect with the flanges a of the other burners, terminate in proximity to the generating central or main one, for the reason that the latter is the one usually first lighted and most likely to remain so.
The generating or fundamental burner may have either one or more conducting-tubes connected to its flange to correspondingly lead to either one, two, or more of the other burners in the series. The greater the number of these conducting-tubes and their several terminals with relation to said other burners the quicker the automatic reignition of this generating or central burner will be effected in case of its being accidentally extinguished, as the escaping vapor will be attracted to the burner or burners that may remain lighted.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new,and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a vaporstove, the combination of two or more burners, one of which has its cap 1) rovided with a deflecting-flange, and one or more tubes connected to said flange, and each tube arranged to terminate in proximity to another of the burners in the series, substantially as set forth.
2. In a vapor stove, the combination of two or more burners, each of which has the cap thereof provided with a deflectingflange, and one or more tubes connected to each flange, and each tube arranged to terminate in proximity to another of the burners in the series, substantially as set forth.
3. In a vapor-stove, the combination of two or more burners, each of which has the cap thereof integrally formed with a deflectingfiange that is concave upon its under side, and one or more tubes connected to each flange, and each tube arranged to terminate .in prox imity to another of the burners in the series, substantially as set forth.
4. In a vapor-stove, the combination of a single generating-burner having its cap provided with a deflecting'flange, one or more non-generating burners that also have their caps individually provided with a deflectingflange, and one or more tubes connected to the flange of each non-generating burner, and each tube arranged to terminatein proximity to the generating-burner, substantially as set forth.
