lie it known that I, FRANK N. KELSEY, a citizen of the United Suites, residing at New Haven, in the State of Uonnecticut, have invented new and useful Improvements in Railway Signaling Apparatus, of which thefollowing is a specification.
My invention relates to that class of railway-signals which elevate a semapho re-arm to indicate dangef when a draw-bridge or switch to which a part of the mechanism is connected is in such a position that an approaching train is in danger of leaving the track.
My invention has for its object to provide a means of raising and lowering a semaphorearm'hy the same mechanism which unlocks the draw bridge or opens the switch, and also to provide for the expansion and contraction of the wire connecting the mechanism at the draw-bridge or switch with the semaphorearm. 7 y

'lhis rod is of such alength that when the hammer is lifted by the lever ll the wheels of a train strike the end of the lever M, thereby producing vertical motion oi. the opposite end of the lever, and the rod will not permit the bent upper end to come into contact with the hammer before its motion is checked by the slot t, and yet allows it to act freely on the bell-hammer when the lever is down.
