On each under side of the mold-board is a catch or lugo, having one face beveled, as shown in Fig. 4. The edgeof the lug is also inclined, to correspond with the edge ot' the hook e2, as shown in Fig, 8. WV hen the plow is to be reversed, the plowinan pushes the projecting arm of the double hook E. with his foot, which disengages said hook from the' lug b on the mold-board and from the lug d on the crossbar and throws it around into its other position, whereit is locked hy the lug the hook to have sufficient play to act in this' manner, and the inclined edges of the hook e'2 and the lug b have a tendency on meeting to throw the arm'e forward and so avoid any danger of disengaging it from the lug d.
\Vhen the duplex hook is swung frein one I side to the other, it oscillates the sleeve F and the plate G. The front edge of sai pl'ate'is a segment ot' a circle struck from t ecenter of the sleeve F, and is cut into bevel gearteeth g'. These mesh with. a sector gear wheel, I', on a shaft, I, which is stepped in a bearing, d?, preferably formed in the crossbar D, and extends upward along'the back of the standard, as shown, its upper end be ing received in a semi-cylindrical socket, j, formed at one end of a double eccentric, J. rIhe shaft I is secured in the socket by a bolt, as shown. socket allows the shaft I1 to be stepped in the bearing d?, andrthen dropped laterally into the socket and fastened. At the end of the double eccentric ,J is formed. .a cup-shaped hub, 7", cylindrical on the outside. The axis of this hub is in line with the axis of the socket j and the shaft I, so that the hub revolves concentrically with the shaft I.

The jointer is provided with a, stem, K, fit- 5o ting in a tubular bearing, A2, formed in the beam A'. In the upper end of the stern is a diametrical slot, k', whose width is slightly greater than4 the diameter of the double eccentric J, which'is engaged with the slot, as v,shown in Figs. 2 and A3. The axial lines of the shaft I, the eccentric J, and the jointer-steui K all intersect at the point X, Fig. l3.
Upon revolvin g the shaft I the vibration of the double-eccentric causes the stem K to oscillate in its bearing, the angular movement being twice the angle between the axes of the shaft I and-the eccentric.

In order to automatically swing the elevis to properly adj ust the draft of the plow, a shaft, L, is mounted in a tubular bearing, A, cored out in the plow-beam. The rear end of this shaft projects into the cup-'shaped hub j', where a slot, l, in the shaft engages with a pin, f2, passing diametrically across the hub. The slot and bolt constitute a universal joint, by which the motion of the sha-ft l is communicated to the shaft L.. i
- In the forward end'of the shaft L is a slot, l', which engages with a pin, m,diametrically crossing a cavity in the end of the-short horizontal 'shaft M, mounted in a tubular bearing,

In each side ofthe head is cut a groove, m', concentric with andparallel to the curred edge, leaving a flange, m2, on each side of 'the head. Under some circumstances, however, it may be desirable or necessary to give more side draft when running the plow in one di-rection than when running it in the opposite direction. To accomplish this, the @levis-hook Q is attached to the clevis O by a bolt, q, passing loosely through one of the holes o in the head of the clevis, and thev sides of the clevishead, are chamfered ott toward the iront and rea-r from aline just back of the bolt-holes, as shown in Fig. 3. To adjust the hook Q, the bolt q is removed, the hook is pulled slightly away from the clevis, moved laterally the required amount, and then pushed baekto engage its teeth q with the teeth o2 of the clevis and bring the bolt-holes into line, so'thatbolt q may be replaced. This adjustment oi the clevis-hook will increase the side draft when the clevis stands on one side and reduce it when the clevis is reversed. The side drait can therefore be regulated with great exactness to suit the varying conditions under which the plow is used. A colter may be substituted for the jointer, if desired. lt is shown in the dotted 'line'sin' Figs. l and 2 'and in full lines in Fig. 14. Fig.. 6 shows the eccentric for shitting the colter, and Fig. ll is a cross-section of the colter where Vit enters the tubular bearing A2. The stem R of the colter tapers oft toward the top, so as to be able to vibrate sidewise in the bearing. The point of the colter lies in the axis of revolution of the stem R, and is therefore not affect-ed 'by the rotatory motion. l

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-

The combination, with a reversible plow provided with a duplex hook and having a shifting j ointer or colter and a laterally-movable clevis, vof suitable crank-like devices tor operating said jointer or colter and the clevis and connections between said cranks and duplex hook,substantially as described,wl1ereby when theliook is turned the jointer or colter and the clevis will be shifted, as and for thev 3. The combination, with a reversible plow, of a duplex hook loosely pivoted on an axiallyyielding bolt and having its hooks turned upwardly on its upper side, so that when locking with the lugs on the mold-board its arms move downward in a plane at right angles to their plane of revolution withoutI any backward movement, substantially as described.
5. The combination, with a reversible plow, ci a cross-bar, D, attached thereto and provided with the lugs d', and a duplex hook, E, having u} )wardly-turned hooks e2, pivotall'y supported on the bar between the lugs by means of an axially-yielding bolt, and having ribs e3 for engaging the lugs d', substantially as described.

The combination, with a reversible plow having a shifting jointer or colter, of a cranklike device for operating the saine, adapted to malte a half-revolutionwh'en shiftingthe jointer or colter andto stand on a dead-center when the jointer or colter is in either of its Working positions, whereby the crankshaftisfrelievedof all torsional strain, substantially as described.

The combination, .with a reversible plow having a laterally-adj ustable clevis,of a crank'- like device for shifting said clevis, adapted to make a half-revolution in so doing `and to stand on a dead-center when the clevis is in either of its working positions, whereby the crank-like device is best enabled to resist the strain upon the clevis, substantially as described. v
