'HAY-CARRIER TRACK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 394,991, dated December 25, 1888.
Application filed December Z9, 1887. Serial No. 259,302. (No model.)
To all whom, t may concern:
3e it known that I, LEWIS Y. MYERS, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Canton, county of Stark, State ot' Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Tracks for Hay-Carriers, of which the 'following isafull, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specifica-tion.
This invention relates to improvements in hay-carrier tracks, the object of which is to provide a strong and durable track that may be erected or removed without the service of a skilled mechanic and cost to the farmer; that may be manufactured without the use of expensive machinery or labor, and at a greatly-reduced initial cost; and, further, it consists in the construction and combination of parts, as hereinafter described, and set forth in the claims.

Fig. et is an isometrical view comprising the ends ot the track-bars and the coupler separated and enlarged.

A A represent the track-bars, which in this case consists ot' inverted-V or angle bars placed side by side, the outer edges, a and b, turned donf'nwardly and secured in parallel position, the edges c secured in the clamps B and C, as shown in Figs. 'l and 2. The end of the track-bars should be placed so as to break joints or overlap on the opposite bar, as shown in Fig. l. The inner edge or wing, a, of the bar is clasped and securely held by the clamps B and O. The said clamp B is composed of the parts D and E and the bolt F; the clamp C of the parts G and E and the hanger J, the said hanger having a shoulder, K, and an annular screw-thread, L, on its lower portion, M, said thread adapted to a similar thread, N, in the lower portion, G, of the clamp O. The upper end of the hanger J has a T-head, O, which is turned crosswise of the track and passed through an oblong aperture, P, at the base of the hanger Q, which is secured to the rafters ot' the barn, and then turned to stand in line with the track, the ends of the T-head resting on the bracket, as shown.
The outer edges, l), of the bars A are free and extend over the clamps. The bottom part, D, of the clamp B provided with a centrally-located perforation for the bolt F, and outwardly and upwardly projected wings h, having grooves R, the object ot which is to provide room for the iin S, usually formed by the saw used in sizing the bars. This enlargement ol:1 the ends of the bars, when clamped in the groove, secures the bars from end movement.
The upper part, E, of the clamp B has a central perforation for the bolt F, and the outer edges beveled to correspond with the angle or face of the track-bar.
The hanger-clamps G are placed at such intervals as may be required to support the track and the clamp D where the track-bars are jointed, and at such other intervals as may be required to secure the bars in their desired parallel position. The hanger-clamp is secured by the use of the threaded portion L of the hangerbein g turned into the threaded perforation of the clamping-plate G, and the joint and intermediate clamps secured, as shown, by the bolts F.
It preferred, the point of the V-bar may be removed or rounded, as shown by the dotted lines at X, Fig. 2, forming an oval surface for the tread of the carrier-wheel instead of the V, as shown in Fig. l.

Having thus fully described the nature and object ot' my invention, what l claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
