Be it known that We, INRANK A. PACKARD and JOHN D. STRUBLE, of Salina, in the county of Saline and State of Kansas, have invented a new and Improxed Soap Compound, of which the following a full, clear, and exact description.
Our invention relates to a composition of matter adapted for use in connection with soap, especially laundry-soap, and has for its object to provide an article by the use of which all bleaching liquids or powders and acids may be dispensed with, and which, when used for laundry purposes, will effectually clean and whiten the most delicate fabricssuch as silk, satin, and fine laceswithout the slightest injury thereto.
The composition consists of the following ingredients, combined in substantially the following proportions, viz: Equal parts of aquaannnonia, spirits of camphor, spirits of niter, and ether.
The above articles readily out each other and are mixed until they thoroughly commingle.
iVhen soap of any description is in process of manufacture, a suitable quantity of the compound is incorporated, the amount being determined by the experience of the operator and the proposed character of the soap.
For laundry-soap We usually employ eight ounces of the compound for ey'ery two hundred and fifty pounds of soap.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
