Abstract
This invention relates to an improvement in a wall aerosol spray having a hanger attached to the cap body, which is suspended from or fixed on a pillar or a wall for spraying aerosol products for the purpose of deodorizing a lavatory or a compartment giving off an offensive smell.

Field of the Invention This invention relates to a stringpulling type aerosol spray which sprays aerosol products while it is suspended from or fixed on a pillar or a wall. More particularly, this invention relates to a wall aerosol spray wherein a hanger is integral with the cap body and which is provided with a subsidiary hanger engaging the bottom portion of the can body and connected with the integrally formed hanger.
b. Description of the Prior Art Hitherto, aerosol spray devices which spray aerosol products while secured to a pillar or a wall by means of a hanger have been employed for the purpose of deodorizing a lavatory or a compartment giving off an offensive smell. Most of them are of the spring-pulling type due to the restriction that the can body must be mounted at a high portion of the room as to increase the deodorizing and air-cleaning effectivity, and due to sanitary reasons. However, since the conventional wall-hanging, spring-pulling type aerosol spray devices contain pressurized products in the can body, it is almost impossible to form an attaching means on the can .body itself, therefore, the attaching means is generally disposed directly or indirectly on a cap body which. is fitted onto the can body.
Most of these conventional sprays are fastened by hooks such as nails,. by adhesion hangers, or by the combination thereof However, when fastening by hooks such as nails, when the string is pulled down, the spray device rolls around the hook, and therefore, it cannot spray appropriately. Further, it is impossible to drive hooks such as nails into a wall made of concrete.
On the other hand, when fastening by an adhesion hanger applied with adhesives, since the adhesion hanger itself must be manufactured independently of the cap body, the cost of production increases greatly.
It is also troublesome to arrange these elements together when packaging them. Further, in case of fastening of the cap body either by the hook type such as nails or. by the adhesion hanger, when the'string is pulled down very strongly, the cap and the can body are often detached from each other and fall. Still further, when the temperature increases such'as in summer or if the fitting between the can body and cap body is loose, the can body often falls down spontaneously.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the invention to provide a cap for an aerosol spray device which does not have the above mentioned defects of the prior art and which can be easily mounted.
It is another object of the invention to provide a spray device which is very simple in construction and which can be securely handled and manufactured at a low cost.
According to the present invention, a hanger having a flat outer face and which extends from the side portion of the cap body downwardly in line with the longitudinal axis of the can body is molded integrally with the cap body, the hanger having a mounting means whereby the can body is prevented from rolling during actuation and can be easily secured to a pillar or wall. According to another embodiment of this invention, a subsidiary hanger is provided so as to prevent the can body from becoming detached from the cap body.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Preferred embodiments of this invention will be described hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings.
The aerosol can body is indicated by reference numeral l, and the cap body 3, made of a suitable material, is fitted with a groove adapted to engage onto the shoulder 2 of the can body.
The cap body is equipped with a spraying mechanism which comprises an actuating plate 5 pivoted to a supporting pin 4 and a spraying button 7 disposed in the actuating plate 5 and engaging a spraying stem 6 en tending upwardly in the can body and having a spraying nozzle 8 therein. The actuating plate 5 extends to the front portion of the cover 9 of cap body 3, from the top end of which plate a string 10 is dispensed through a slit 11 disposed in the side wall of the cap body.
At the outer portions of both edges of the hanger 12 are disposed parallel holding members 14 which extend downwardly with the longitudinal axis of the can body and which are fitted to the side wall of the can body. Since the holding members have a flat outer surface they act to prevent the can body from rolling. To the rear portion of the hanger 12 between the holding members 14 is provided a hanging means 15, which is a pressure sensitive adhesive surface covered by a peel off strip of material 16. Since the cap body 3 and the hanger 12 are integrally molded, the hanger must be molded into a configuration which has no curved portion and which is easily detached from the mold, due to restrictions in molding techniques.
Accordingly, a subsidiary hanger 17 for preventing the can body from becoming detached from the cap body should be molded separately and disposed so as to support the lower portion of the can body and to prevent the can body from falling all as shown in FIG. 1, since it is impossible to mold the hanger for supporting the lower portion of the can body integrally with the can body 3 due to the technical restrictions in the molding. The subsidiary hanger 17 comprises an attaching member 20 at the lower portion, said attaching member being of L-type construction and adapted to engage the bottom portion 19 of the can body to sup- 3 into the bore 22 disposed at the lower portion of the hanger 12 to thereby form a unitary assembly therewith. It is also possible to dispose a hanging means at the back of the subsidiary hanger.
The mechanism and the operation of the above mentioned construction will now be described:
The cap body 3 which molded integrally with the hanger 12 for preventing the rolling, is attached to the can body 1 by means of shoulder 2, then the peeling material 16 is peeled off from the adhesive and the hanging means is attached to a suitable portion of a pillar or a wall by applying pressure. Thus, when the string 10 is pulled down to pivot the actuating plate 5 downwardly with respect to the supporting pin 4 to thereby depress the spraying stem 6 by the spraying button 7, theaerosol products are sprayed through the spraying nozzle 8.
However, if thefitting between the can body 1 and the cap body 3 is loose or if there is a fear that the fittingwill become loose due to temperature changes, the subsidiary hanger 17 maybe attached to the hanger 12. In this case, the attaching member 20 of the subsidiary hanger 17 in L-type construction 18 is engaged with the edge portion of the can bottom 19, and the projecting portion 23 of the unitary-assemble type is inserted into the bore 22 disposed at the lower portion of the hanger 12, then, the peeling material 16 is peeled off, and thereafter the hanger 12 is affixed together with the can body to a pillar or a wall to thereby fix the same due to the adhesive effect of the hanging member 15. The spraying may be operated as described hereinbefore. In this case, even if the string is pulled down strongly, if the fitting between the can body 1 and the cap body 3 is loose, or if the temperature changes, the can body 1 does not become detached, since it is securely supported by the attaching member 20 of the subsidiary hanger 17. Further, since the holding members 14 disposed at the outer portions of both sides of the hanger 12 support the side wall of the can body 1, the can body 1 is prevented from rolling with respect to the wall when the string 10 is pulled down.
Since the hanger for supporting the spray device is molded integrally with the cap body which is attached to the aerosol can, it can be produced at lower cost than the separate-type and it is easy to package the spray device.
Further, the spraying operation can be effected securely by pulling the string without rolling of the can body, because the hanger has the mechanism to prevent the can body from rolling.
Still further, by employing the subsidiary hanger, the can body is prevented from becoming detached from the cap body, even if the fitting between the can body and the cap body is loose, and when the string is pulled down strongly, or if temperature changes cause the fitting to be loose.
Although the hanging member is described as being applied with adhesives in the above mentioned embodiment, it should be understand that the hanger may be provided an equivalent fastening meanssuch as nails or screws in place of adhesives.
The foregoing description of the specific embodiment will so fully reveal the general nature of the invention that others can, by applying current knowledge, readily modify and/or adapt for various applications such specific embodiment without departing from the generic concept, and therefore, such adaptations and modifications should and are intended to be comprehended with the meaning and range of equivalents of the disclosed embodiment. It is to be understood that the phraseology or terminology employed herein is for the purpose of description and not of limitation.
What is claimed is:
I. In a wall supported aerosol spray device having a can body to contain aerosol products therein, a cap body adapted to be attached to said can body, a string adapted to be pulled down so as to actuate a valve means for spraying aerosol products and a hanger for suspending the cap body together'with the can body, the improvement which comprises forming said hanger integral with the cap body at one side portion of the cap body and extending downwardly from said side portion in line with the longitudinal axis of the can body, said hanger comprismg holding means at both edge portions thereof thereby forming a flat surface so as to prevent the can body from rolling when the string is pulled down, and attaching means for attachment to said wall wherein said attaching means is a pressure sensitive adhesive surface located between said holding means.
2. A wall supported aerosol spray device according to claim 1, which comprises a subsidiary hanger, means at the upper portion of said subsidiary hanger for connecting it to the lower portion of said first mentioned hanger, means at the lower portion of said subsidiary hanger for engaging the bottom portion of the can body, thereby preventing detachment of said can body from said cap body.
Claims (2)
1. In a wall supported aerosol spray device having a can body to contain aerosol products therein, a cap body adapted to be attached to said can body, a string adapted to be pulled down so as to actuate a valve means for spraying aerosol products and a hanger for suspending the cap body together with the can body, the improvement which comprises forming said hanger integral with the cap body at one side portion of the cap body and extending downwardly from said side portion in line with the longitudinal axis of the can body, said hanger comprising holding means at both edge portions thereof thereby forming a flat surface so as to prevent the can body from rolling when the string is pulled down, and attaching means for attachment to said wall wherein said attaching means is a pressure sensitive adhesive surface located between said holding means.
2. A wall supported aerosol spray device according to claim 1, which comprises a subsidiary hanger, means at the upper portion of said subsidiary hanger for connecting it to the lower portion of said first mentioned hanger, means at the lower portion of said subsidiary hanger for engaging the bottom portion of the Can body, thereby preventing detachment of said can body from said cap body.
