ICE AND SNOW PLOW FOR, RAILROAD-TRACKS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 380,042, dated March 27, 1888. Application filed July 2, 1887. Serial No. 243,251. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWARD LESLIE, of the town of Orangeville, in the county of Dufferin, in the Province of Ontario, Canada, gentleman, have invented a certain new and useful Improved Ice and Snow Plow for Railroad- Tracks, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the invention is to design an effective ice and snow plow which will loosen any hardened snow or ice immediately next to the track and remove the snow and ice in proximity to the inside of the rail and discharge the same a sufiicient distance from the track to prevent it falling back; and it consists, essentially, in the peculiar combinations and the novel construction, arrangement, and adaptation of parts, all as more fully hereinafter described and claimed.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a portion of a car-truck provided with my improved ice and snow plow.- Fig. 2 is aperspective detail of the frame on which the ice-plows and railscrapers are attached. Fig. 3 is a perspective detail of the frame on'which the 'flangers are attached.
In the drawings like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the different figures.
A represents the front axle of the truck.
B are arms attached to or forming part of the frame 0, and provided with suitable boxes to journal onthe front axle, A, as shown.
D are plows attached to the frame 0 in such a position that when the said frame is dropped down the plows will project below the rails close to the inside of each rail.
E are scrapers attached to and extending outwardly from the plows Din such a position that when the frame 0 is dropped down the scrapers E will rest upon the top surface of the rail immediately in front of the wheels F, which are attached to the axle A.
G is a crank-shaft suitably journaled on the truck-frame H, and provided with a lever, I, as shown. The cranks a of the shaft G are connected by suitable links to the frame 0, so that by moving the lever I the frame 0 may be raised or lowered, as required.

piston-rod O to one end of the beam P, the other end of which is suitably connectedt-o the frame K by the linkQ, which is so connected to the said frame K as to permit the lateral movement of the said frame without affecting the piston-rod 0, connected at the other end of the beam P.
