Field of the Invention The present invention relates to eraser attachments for ball point pens.
2. Summary of the Invention The eraser attachment for ball point pens of the instant invention includes a generally cylindrical resilient body adapted to encompass a cylindrical ball point pen with the body provided with a notch to engage under the clip of the pen to prevent the body from turning on the ball point pen. A generally cylindrical socket extends perpendicularly to the body to receive an eraser with the eraser projecting outwardly of the body for use.
The primary object of the invention is to provide an eraser attachment for ball point pens.
Other objects and advantages will become apparent in the following specification when considered in light of the attached drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the invention;
FIG. 2 is aperspective view of the invention shown partially from the rear;
FIG. 3 is a top plan view of the invention;
FIG. 4 is a vertical sectional view, taken along the line 44 of FIG. 3, looking in the direction of the arrows;
FIG. 5 is a rear elevation of the invention; and
FIG. 6 is an exploded perspective view of the invention shown removed from the ball point pen with a modified form of eraser.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now to the drawings in detail, wherein like reference characters indicate like parts throughout the several figures, the reference numeral 10 indicates generally an eraser attachment for ball point pens constructed in accordance with the invention.
The eraser attachment 10 is adapted for use with a ball point pen ll of conventional design and including a pocket clip 12 and a hand actuated plunger for exposing the writing point of the pen when desired. The pen 11 is generally cylindrical in form and its construction is completely conventional forming no part of the present invention.
The attachment 10 includes a resilient generally cylindrical body 14 which is split along a line 15 parallel to the axis of the body 14. A generally rectangular notch 16 is formed in the top edge of the body 14 to permit the body 14 to have resilientcy for gripping the 'pen 11. The notch 16 engages around the base of the pocket clip 12 so as to prevent the body 14 from rotating around the pen 11 as the attachment 10 is used.
A generally cylindrical eraser socket 17 is integrally formed with the body 14 and has its axis extending perpendicularly to the axis of the body 14.
A generally resilient eraser 18 is adhesively secured in the socket 17 to complete the attachment 10. In the use and operation of the eraser attachment 10 the body 14 is slid upwardly along the pen 11 under the clip 12 until the rectangular notch 16 engages the base of the clip 12 which acts as a stop to position the attachment 10 for use.
In FIG. 6 a modified eraser attachment for ball point pens is illustrated generally at 10. The structure of the attachment 10' includes-a body 14' identical to the body 14 and including a generally cylindrical socket 17' identical to the socket 17. An eraser 18' is fitted into a resilient base 19 and is in turn seated in the socket 17' to thus provide the replaceable eraser for the eraser attachment 10.
The use and operation of the modified form of the invention illustrated in FIG. 6 is identical to that of the form of the invention illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5.
Having thus described the preferred embodiments of the invention it should be understood that numerous structural modifications and adaptations may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is:
