Abstract
A wig stand having deformable stems with a rounded, sinuous body collapsible by torsion. A cord is wrapped in a spiral on the stems. A plurality of plastic bands or tubes form the upper part of the stand by interweaving with the stems forming the generatrix. The lower part of the stand is pushed upward to form a vertical annular flap for receiving and partially concealing the upper portion when folding of the stand is achieved by torsion.

The wig stand in question belongs to the type formed by a number of semi-rigid cords such as plastic covered rushes, which constitute a type of base or support domed at the top to resemble a convex cone for placing a wig thereon.
This type of wig stand has the peculiarity that it can be folded by torsion of its parts, whereby it can be collapsed, thus taking up little space. In order to facilitate torsion, one or more cords are wrapped around what might be called the wig stand generatrix following a spiral. In this manner it is extremely easy to accomplish torsion guided by said spiral.
Now then, wig stands according to the aforementioned construction being known, this invention provides for certain improvements reflected in the sole FIGURE in the attached plan to be explained below.
In effect, it will be observed from the elevation of a wig stand shown in the mentioned drawing, that the device of the invention is constituted by a number of deformable stems 1 arranged, as can be seen, so that they form a rounded sinuous body through the lesser diameter of which several reinforcing cords 2 follow a trajectory describing a spiral. When pressure is applied to what might be called the head or upper area of the wig stand, it is very simple to accomplish folding of the various components 1 thus causing the stand to collapse and thereby considerably reducing the height of the wig stand.
The essence of this invention lies in that a number of plastic or similar bands referenced 3 covering the part on which the wig will rest are interwoven with the stems l to the upper area of the body formed by said stems.
Obviously the wig will then be prevented from hooking onto the stems 1 or becoming entangled among them as is presently the case, so that in endeavoring to remove the wig for use, deformities in the general structure of the wig stand have occurred.
Another fundamental characteristic of the invention lies in the fact that it has a vertical annular flap, generally referred to by 5 at its base, which is constituted when the ends of the stems 1 are pushed upwardly, and have interwoven therewith bands 4 which may be ribbons or bands and even tubular plastic similar to bands 3 covering the upper area of the wig stand.
Incorporation of the annular flap 5 makes it possible that in its folded position the ensemble remains properly flattened so that the loops of the ribbon 3 may be hooked, so to speak, to bands 4 forming the rim.
It is not considered necessary to make a further description, since any person skilled in the art will understand perfectly the concept of the invention and the advantages to be derived from its industrial realization.
Although a preferred embodiment of the invention has been described in detail, such description is intended to be illustrative only and not restrictive, since many details of the construction of the invention may be altered or modified without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention.
1 claim; 1. A wig stand having deformable stems comprising a rounded, sinuous body collapsible by torsion, a cord wrapped in a spiral on said stems, a plurality of plastic bands forming the upper part of the stand by interweaving with said stems forming the generatrix, the lower part of the stand being pushed upward, to form a vertical annular flap for receiving and partially concealing said upper portion when folding of the stand is achieved by torsion.
