UNITED STATES ATENT OFFICE,
EMIL WEIIZMAN, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
BELT-FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 377,129, dated January 31, 1888.
Application filed June 20, 1887. Serial No. 241.946. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMIL WEITZMAN, acitizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michr gan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Belt-Fasteners, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to certain new and [O useful improvements in belt-fasteners; and it consists in the peculiar construction and combination of parts, as more fully hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a plan showing my device as applied to a belt. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section thereof on line at x. Fig. 3 are the parts forming the device in detached perspective view.
A B are a pair of metallic plates, each consisting of a shank, a, and spearshaped heads 6, beveled at the points. Each plate is provided with a screw-threaded boss, 0, and an eye, d, countersunk, as shown, to receive the heads of the screws 0, which fit the eyes d in the plates and engage the bosses and form the means of securing the pair of plates together and to the belt D. In practice the bosses are made to project only partly through the belt, so that the screws in tightening can firmly clamp the belt between each pair of plates; but the screws I provide of suitable length to fit any ordinary thickness of belt, and if there are any ends projecting after screwing them to place they are nipped or filed off. A suitable number of these fastening devices are thus secured to the belt, according to its width.
