GARMENT 0R- COAT HANGER.-
SPECIPICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 376,207, dated January 10, 1888. Application filed March 23,1887. Serial No.2il2,134. (No model.)
To all whom, may concern:
Be it known that l, GEORGE PAVLIK, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of -Massachusetts,' have invented certain new and tensions or arms from the opposite sides therefrom, and to be entered into the sleeve open-' ings of the coat at the neck, and thereby to support the shoulders and also the neckportions of the garment.
The invention consists, in substance, of a coat-support of the class above stated, having its shoulder and neck sustaining arms 'or extensions made of sheet metal with a'rolledover edge, substantially as described.
In the drawings forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved coat-support, and Fig. 2 is a section along the length of the same.
In the drawings, A is a hook or open eye at one end of ashank or stem, B, at its oiherend attached to the center of a strip of metal,having a curvilinear bend from end to end, D, and tapering in width from each end toward its middle and rounded orcurved across its width. Each end, D, is rounded off, and the edge E of the strip is rolled over, and preferably upon, a wire core or rod, F,to stiffen and strengthen it. The hook or open eye A is the means through which to suspend the coat-support, in substance made of sheet metal, as has been described, and the extensions G at each side of the hook are inserted in the sleeveopenings of the coat at the neck and then the coat thereon supported, all as is well known without further description.
The coat-support described is simple, cheap, and efficient, and being made of sheet metal affords a closed surface for the rest of the shoulders and neck of the garment to which it has been applied, as stated.
