IMPROVEMENT IN HAND-D'RILLS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 36, |35, dated August l2, i862.'
To all whomit may concern..-
Bc it known that I, Ernmm BEEMAN, of Owego, in the county of Tioga, State ol' New York, have invented a new and Improved Hand-Drill; and I do hereby declare that thc following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and tothe let tersol reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in r0- tating a drill-stock, d, running in the brass frame a b c I), by means of a cord passed once or more around a wheel or pulley upon the drill-stock, also passing around the pulleys A Bc, the cord having the proper tension given to it by means of the screw shown atf, which also serves the purpose ol' a handle to operate the cord, to which a back-and-l'orth movement is given. The dr-ill c is easily removed to give place to other instruments.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction.
The drill-frame a b c D maybe made ol' brass or iron. The drill-stock l should be of steel. The cord should be of gut or any other suitable material. There is one thing to bc undexstood--that this instrument can be made in dill'erent ways for dillerent purposes.
XVhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
'lhe manner ol' rotating a drill -stock by means of a cord passing around it and around pulleys, making it a convenient and durabh tool, as above described.
