OVERHEAD SIGN MOUNTING SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is often necessary to support vertical signs in such manner as to permit same to be rotated to any desired angular position about a vertical axis, to lock same in this position and to unlock, change the position and relock as desired. To this end, a structure having a horizontal section is clamped to pole or cable. The section has a vertical bore disposed between two oppositely disposed curved horizontal slots. Means secured to the sign has a vertical shaft disposed rotatably in the bore and two vertical bolts, each bolt extending upward through a corresponding slot. The sign can then be rotated, secured to the shaft, to any angular position with respect to the vertical axis as limited only by the position of the bolts in the slots. When a desired position is reached, the bolts are tightened to hold the sign in desired position. The bolts can be loosened to permit readjustment of position and then tightened to relock the sign in new position.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS In the drawings:
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of my invention in use; FIG. 2 is a detailed front view of my invention; and FIG. 3 is a detailed top view of my invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS Referring now to FIGS. 1-3, my invention is directed toward an apparatus for supporting a vertical sign l rotated to any desired angular position about a vertical axis and held in that position while suspended either from a cable 12 or a pole l4.
Alternatively, a clamp 36 can secure vertical plate 18 to pole 36. A horizontal spacer 20' can secure plate 18 to a vertical portion 38 of plate-like structure 40. The bar and sign are coupled to structure 40 as before.
While I have described my invention with particular reference to the drawings, such is not to be considered as limiting its actual scope.
Having thus described this invention, what is asserted as new is:
1. In combination with a sign disposed in a vertical plane;
a horizontal plate having a vertical bore disposed between two 0 positely curved horizontal slots; first means coup ed to said sign and having a vertical shaft rotatable in the bore as well as two bolts extending vertically through corresponding ones of said slots, said bolts being adapted to be tightened in or loosened in said slots; and
second means supporting said plate in horizontal position.
2. The combination as set forth in claim 1 wherein the first means is secured to the top horizontal edge of the sign.
3. The combination as set forth in claim 2 wherein said second means includes at least one clamp.
4. The combination as set forth in claim 3 wherein said second means is secured either to a cable or a pole.
Claims (4)
1. In combination with a sign disposed in a vertical plane; A HORIZONTAL PLATE HAVING A VERTICAL BORE DISPOSED BETWEEN TWO OPPOSITELY CURVED HORIZONTAL SLOTS; FIRST MEANS COUPLED TO SAID SIGN AND HAVING A VERTICAL SHAFT ROTATABLE IN THE BORE AS WELL AS TWO BOLTS EXTENDING VERTICALLY THROUGH CORRESPONDING ONES OF SAID SLOTS, SAID BOLTS BEING ADAPTED TO BE TIGHTENED IN OR LOOSENED IN SAID SLOTS; AND SECOND MEANS SUPPORTING SAID PLATE IN HORIZONTAL POSITION.
