' (Mod el N. J. M. *HEOK.
CLOTHES DRIER.
No. 366,096. Patented July 5, 1887.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFI E.
NATHANIEL J. M. HEGK, OF HAZLETON, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO CHARLES KBAPF, OF SAME PLACE.
CLOTHELS DRIER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 366,096, dated July 5,1887.
Application filed June 17, 1886. Serial No. 205,461. tModel.)
' To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NATHANIEL J. M. HEOK, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Hazleton, in the county of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothes- Driers; and I do hereby declare the following tobea full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings'and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in clothes-driers; and it consists in the construction and combination of the parts, as will be hereinafter fully set forth, and specifically pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, which illus-.
trate my invention, Figure 1 represents a clothes-drier constructed in accordance with my improvement. Fig. 2 is a sectional view showing the parts arranged in a different posi tion from Fig. 1,, and Fig. 3 is a detail view.
A A refer to the supporting-legs, which are pivotal] y attached to each other near their centers by a transverse bar, a. The legs A have at one side a projecting portion, a, from which extend inwardly, above the pivotbar a, stops 1), which limit the inclination of the supporting legs. The pairs of legs are securely braced to each other by transverse bars I), as shown. The upper portions of the legs A and A are provided with pivot-bars c c, which extend through the same and provide a means for attaching bars B and B to the same, said bars being provided with transverse connecting-barsd (l, c e, and 9. One of the side bars, B, is provided adjacent to the transverse bar 6 with a raised portion, h, within which is formed aperforation, the opposite bar, B, having a correspondingly raised portion, which has a recess formed therein. When the clothes-drier is placed in the position shown in Fig. 2, a supplemental bar, 2', is placed within the perforation h and recess hereinbefore referred to, after being first passed through the perforation 7c in one of the side bars, B, the opposite end lying within recesses and h, where it is held by a hook, h, so as to hold the bars .B and B in a horizontal position. The bars B are each provided near their upper or inner ends with longitudinal slots Z, within which the barg lies. When it is desired to arrange the parts so that the drier will occupy the position shown in Fig. l, the removable barf is placed in one of the perforations in the bar B and in the recess in the opposite bar, so that the ends of the sidepieces, B, will abut against the projecting ends thereof, so as to maintain the upper frame in an inclined position.
The device hereinbefore described is capable of assuming a variety of positions besides those shown in the accompanying drawings, and the frame, besides being used as a clothesdrier, may also be adjusted so as to provide a support for a board to form a flat-top table, or the top may be inclined so as to hold the board placed thereon in an inclined position. When the frame is not in use, the parts may be folded upon each other, so as to occupy but little space.
The device hereinbefore described is simple in construction, and the parts are thoroughly braced to each other.
I clain1- 1. A clothes drier consisting of legs A, connected together by bars and provided with stop-blocks b, the legs A, similarly connected by bars and pivoted to legs A, adjacent to the stop-blocl frame B and slotted frame B, pivoted together by a bar passing through the slots of frame B and to the upper ends of legs A A, and a removable bar, 2', arranged to fit openings in the frames B B and lock said frames in different positions of adjustment,
substantially as described.
2. In a clothes-drier or analogous device, the combination of the legs A and A, pivotally secured to each other, frames B and B, pivoted to the upper portion of the legs, the side pieces of the frames B being provided with slots Z, perforations 7c, and corresponding recesses 70, the. opposite frame, B, having a raised portion with perforation h, a recess, and hook it, and removable locking-bar i, the parts being organized substantially as shown, and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
NATHANIEL J. M. anon.
