DEMOUNTABLE wro STAND BACKGROUND OF INVENTION 1. Field of Invention This invention relates generally to wig stands, and specifically to demountable wig stands formed of a group of strips that may be connected in an extended state and may be disconnected and folded.

2. Description Of Prior Art Travellers who carry wigs in accordance with contemporary fashion are burdened with a large, cylindrical box, containing a head-shaped form upon which the travellers wig is usually pinned. With the introduction of the foldable, packable wig, the nuisance of the wig box may be dispensed with, but no convenient, small, light wig stand has been introduced for the convenience of the traveller.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION It has been found that a foldable, or demountable wig stand can be provided which is light in weight, compact, expandable to support a wig, and will enable the wig to be held when restyled, prior to use by the traveller. Three straight plastic strips attached together may be folded into a small space, or may be erected, and attached together by studs to form the demountable wig stand which is a cagelike structure, capable of supporting a wig between periods of use, without disturbing its fashionable set.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the demountable wig stand, with the parts folded together and held by a band;

FIG. 2 is a top plan view of the folded wig stand, with the strips extended longitudinally;

FIG. 3 is a side elevational view of the wig stand prior to the four end strips being connected to studs; and

FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the wig stand, with the four detachable ends attached to the studs.

PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring now to the drawings in detail, the wig stand provides a first elongated strip 11, made of relatively stiff, yet flexible material. Plastic or metal materials which are resilient or are readily bent may be used. It is preferred that the material be of a plastic material which, after being bent, will return to a normal, straight condition. A stud or rivet 12 is used to pivotably attach a second strip 13 to one end of the first strip 11. The opposite ends of the first strip 11 has a hole 14. The stud 12 has an enlarged head, to which the hole 14 may be fitted, thus frictionally engaging the end of the first strip 11. The loop there formed by the first strip 11 is the base of the wig stand.

The first strip 11 is provided with an additional or second studs 15, having enlarged heads. The second strip 13 has a hole 16 at its free end which may be engaged or disengaged from an enlarged head on the second stud 15. The first strip 11 is also provided with two additional studs 17. While studs 17 are referred to, it is to be understood that there are numerous other types of fastening means that may be substituted. Studs 17 are also provided with enlarged heads. A third strip 18 of substantially the same length as the second strip 13 by a stud or rivet 19. The strips 13, 18 are attached or riveted pivotably together at their midpoints. The third strip 18 is provided with end holes 20, 20 which will frictionally engage the enlarged heads of the third and fourth studs 17. The second and third strips 13, 18 are thus erected and the wig stand is formed. By unsnapping the four holes 14, 16, 20, 20, the wig stand is demounted, from the position shown in FIG. 4, and the strips 11, l3, 18 may be pivoted to the position shown in FIG. 2.

They may then be loo ed and caught with an elastic band 21, forming a convenient y, small, readily packable, article convenient to stow away in the travellers luggage.

I claim:

1. A demountable wig stand comprising a. a first strip,

b. a second strip pivotably attached at one end to the first strip,

0. a third strip pivotably attached at its midpoint to the second strip,

d. a first means to connect on one end of the first strip,

e. the other end of the first strip attachable to and detachable from the first means to connect and defining a base,

f. a second means to connect on the first strip,

g. the other end of the second strip attachable to and detachable from the second means to connect,

h. a third and fourth means to connect on the first strip,

i. the ends of the third strip attachable to and detachable from the third and fourth means to connect.

2. The device according to claim 1 in which a. the strips are pivotable into general parallelism with each other and,

b. the second strip then lies between the first and third strips.

3. The device according to claim 1 in which a. the means to connect are provided with enlarged heads,

b. the strips are provided with holes into which the enlarged heads of the means to connected are fitted.

4. The device according to claim 1 in which the first means to connect is also the means by which the first and second strips are pivotably attached.

5. The device according to claim 1 in which the one end of the second strip is attached to one end of the first strip.

6. The device according to claim 1 in which the means to connect are studs.

Claims (6)

1. A demountable wig stand comprising a. a first strip, b. a second strip pivotably attached at one end to the first strip, c. a third strip pivotably attached at its midpoint to the second strip, d. a first means to connect on one end of the first strip, e. the other end of the first strip attachable to and detachable from the first means to connect and defining a base, f. a second means to connect on the first strip, g. the other end of the second strip attachable to and detachable from the second means to connect, h. a third and fourth means to connect on the first strip, i. the ends of the third strip attachable to and detachable from the third and fourth means to connect.

2. The device according to claim 1 in which a. the strips are pivotable into general parallelism with each other and, b. the second strip then lies between the first and third strips.

3. The device according to claim 1 in which a. the means to connect are provided with enlarged heads, b. the strips are provided with holes into which the enlarged heads of the means to connected are fitted.

4. The device according to claim 1 in which the first means to connect is also the means by which the first and second strips are pivotably attached.

5. The device according to claim 1 in which the one end of the second strip is attached to one end of the first strip.

6. The device according to claim 1 in which the means to connect are studs.
