DAVID B. WEIGHTMAN, OF GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR OF ONE- -HALF TO PERKINS & MASON, OF SAME PLACE.
FLOATING MlNNOW -BASKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 354,958, dated December 28, 1886.
Application filed April 3, 1886. Serial No. 198,502. (No model.)
T0 at whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, DAVID B, WEIGHTMAN,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent and. State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Floating Minnow-Baskets; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention,
such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and'to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon,which form a part of this specification. I

My invention relates to improvements in devices for keeping minnows alive for-bait, and has for its object a can or basket constructed with an air-tight section to float the same, and with the top made of open-work, permitting the free entrance of water.
I describe my invention as follows: The can or basket B is made with a false bottom, thus giving us the air-tight section A, and the top of basket is constructed of wire or other openwork, F, surmounted by the collar L, having the cover I, the catch G, and the bail H. The
top of the body of basket B curves inwardly, 30
basket having a reticulated top, F, and cover I, and in the bottom an air-tight chamber, A, substantially as shown and described.
