To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, JOHN T. CoRBET'r, of Aurora, in the county of Kane and State of lllinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in FeedingFuel to Furhaces; and I do hereby declare that the fol lowing is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specitication.
My invention is a further improvement on that shown in my Patent No. 329,890, dated November l0, 1885; and it relates to a novel construction and location of the magazine and its combination with other parts.
Figure 1 is a cross-section through the boiler, magazine, and fire-pot; Fig. 2, a vertical longitudinal section.
A is the struct-ure for supporting the boiler and its appurtenances, and which may be of brick, masonry, iron, or other appropriate material; B, the horizontal boiler inclosed within such structure or furnace; C, the hollow tire-pot having a large water-space, c; D D, the magazine.
Instead of having the magazine extend directly through the boiler, as in my above- Vnamed patent, it extends upward outside of the boiler, thus permitting that portion of the space inside the boiler, which in that patent was occupied by the magazine, to be filled with dues.
I prefer to make the magazine in two parts, as shown, one part being on one side of the boiler and one on the opposite side. In some cases. however, it may be single, extending up at one side only of the boiler; or there may, if desired, be two such magazines on each side of the boiler, but all of course communicating with or leading the fuel down to the firepot.
r[he rebox and its connection with the boiler constitute the subject-matter of another and independent application, and I therefore do not claim them in the present application, but describe them suciently to make clear the present invention. I prefer to use a hollow water-holding fire-pot, c', indicating the water-space, and E E representing pipes which connect such water-space with the boiler. The water-pot may be circular or of any other suitable shape, as preferred. The magazine D, it will be observed, conforms at its lower portion substantially to the curve of the boiler, and is in near proximity, if not in contact, with its exterior. llhis insures a very material utilization of heat.
The general arrangements of the structure as a whole, with the exception of the water firepot and the outside magazine, are substantially the saine as those in my above-named patent.

l. In a horizontal boiler, a fuel-magazine not only communicating directly with the iirepot. but also curving upward therefrom around and in near proximity to the boiler near its front, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
