SWIVEL FOR WATCH-CHAINS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0.348,811, dated September 7, 1886.

.To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, ABRAM ABRAHAMS, a citizen of the United States, residing at East St. Louis, in the county vof St. Clair and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in atchfChan Swivels or Hooks, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to snap hooks and swivels for watch or similar chains in which it is desirable to make an easy and speedy connection by simple and inexpensive construction. I accomplish this by means which will be hereinafter fully set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, which make a part of this specification, the Figures l and 2 represent longitudinal sections, but in different positions readily discernible.
In the figures, A represents a metallic case having a swivel-ring, C, at its upper end.
B B represent two hooks, which are pivoted together within the case at x. A bowspring,
a, rests between the hooks at their upper ends and presses them toward each other at their lower ends.

By pressing the lugs or projections e e inward the hooks are separated at their lower ends for the purpose of catching any object which may be presented. The hooks are pivoted to each other, and are slipped into the casing from below, and, after being placed in position7 are held in said casing by means of a transverse dovetailed bar, b, which is secured in dovetailed grooves at each side of the casing.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
The combination, with the casing A, having a swivel-ring, C, at its upper end, of thehooks B B', pivoted together at fr, and having lugs or projections e, the bow-spring a, by which the hooksV are held normally, and the bar b, whereby the hooks are heldin the casing, substantially as specified.
