(Cl. 93-8) This invention relates to an apparatus for producing cross-bottom valve bags, consisting of a tube-forming device and a bottom-laying device in which multi-layer paper tube portions are fed from the tube-forming device to the bottom-laying device with the formation of bundles of tube pieces at the outlet of the tube-forming device.
According to a known device of this kind at the end of the tube-forming device there is or are provided one or more delivery tables by means of which the bundles of tube pieces formed on them and standing rearwardly inclined are tipped forwards on to horizontal transport devices which are disposed transversely of the tube-forming device and which feed the bundles of tube pieces to the bottom-laying device or devices.
The object of the invention is to develop further and improve the aforesaid known apparatus, and in particular to obtain during the working cycle more time for tipping the bundles of tube pieces on to the horizontal transport devices disposed transversely of the tube-forming device, whereby in the end an increase in the speed of production of the entire device is made possible.
To this end the invention consists essentially in that the delivery table or tables which are inclined rearwardly is or are each held on a correspondingly inclined frame,
that the frame together with the delivery table can be rocked through the angle of inclination into a horizontal plane, and that the delivery table is divided and is movable in relation to the frame in such a manner that the bundle of tube pieces can be lowered downwards.
According to one embodiment, a divided table plate is provided, while the two table plate halves are held pivotally on the frame by their sides remote from one another and can open out downwards.

A tube-forming device 1 draws off for example four paper webs 3 from four feed reels 2 and converts them into four-layer tube pieces 4. Depending on the position of a known separator (not illustrated), the tube pieces 4 are passed either to a conveyor belt 5 or to a conveyor belt 6. The conveyor belt 5 transports to a delivery table 7 the tube pieces 4 supplied to it, while the conveyor belt Patented June 6, 1967 6 conveys to a delivery table 8 the tube pieces 4 supplied to it. The tube pieces are collected on the delivery tables and a determined number of them are in each case passed first for example to the belt 9 and then to the belt 10.
The delivery tables 7, 8 form in each case a part of transfer devices according to the invention and are adapted to be rocked into a horizontal plane, in the direction of the arrow shown in dotted lines in FIGURE 1, for the purpose of transferring a bundle of tube pieces to the conveyor belts 9 and 10 respectively. If for example the delivery table 8 is fed by the conveyor belt 6, the delivery table 7 will transfer a bundle of tube pieces to the conveyor belt 9.
The conveyor belts 9, 10 supply the bundles of tube pieces to bottom- laying devices 11, 12. The bottom-laying devices 11, 12 are disposed at right-angles to the tubeforming device 1, since they work by the transverse conveying method. Since the transfer device having the delivery table 8 corresponds to the transfer device having the delivery table 7, the invention will hereinbelow be described only once, with reference to the transfer device having the delivery table 7. It comprises a frame 13 (see FIGURES 3 to 6) which carries the delivery table 7 formed of the two table halves 14, 15, and a device 16 (see FIGURES 3 and 4 in particular) for holding and tipping the frame. The frame 13 carries two lateral guide bars 17, 18 and a holding bar 19, which for the purpose of adaptation to various tube piece dimensions are adjustable on the frame by means of screws 20 (FIGURE 6). The table half 14 of the delivery table 7 is mounted pivotally in the members 25, 26 of the frame by means of pivot pins 21, 22, and the table half 15 is similarly mounted by means of pivot pins 23, 24. A locking bolt 27 holds the table halves 14, 15 in their closed position. The locking bolt can for example be drawn back electrornagnetically against the action of a spring 28, so that the table halves can be opened up as illustrated in FIGURE 4 and as indicated in chain-dotted lines in FIGURE 5.
The frame 13 is pivotally mounted by means of two pivot pins 29, 30 (see in particular FIGURES 5 and 6) in walls of a frame 31 indicated in chain-dotted lines in FIGURES 3 and 4. The apparatus 16 for holding and tipping the frame 13 comprises a pneumatic cylinder 32, which is mounted on the frame 31 for pivoting about a horizontal axis 33 and in which a double action piston 34 is slidably mounted, the piston rod 35 of the same being articulated to the free end of a lever 36 fastened on the pivot pin 30. Two working chambers 37, 38 are formed in the cylinder 32 by the piston 34. Through the introduction of compressed air into the working chamber 37, the piston 34 is moved out of its position shown in FIGURE 3 into the position shown in FIGURE 4, whereby the frame 13 is tipped out of its inclined position, which it assumes during the stacking of the tubes in which the table halves 14, 15 are opened up, so that the tube pieces 4 stacked in the form of a loose bundle 39 drop on to the conveyor belt 9. Through the introduction of compressed air into the working chamber 38 of the cylinder 32, the frame 13 is brought back from the horizontal position into the inclined position shown in FIGURE 3.
The table halves 14, 15 are closed by respective doubleaction pistons 40 (see FIGURE 5), which are mounted slidably in respective pneumatic cylinders 41, 42. The cylinders 41, 42 are mounted pivotally on the frame member 26. The piston rods 43 of the pistons 40 each carry at their free ends a draw member 44 having a slot 45. The pivot pin 22 of the table half 14 and the pivot pin 24 of the table half 15 each carry at their free ends a crank 46. At its free end each crank carries a guide bolt 47 which projects into or through the slot 45 and which for example is constructed as a screw bolt and can be pushed from outside through the slot and screwed into a threaded hole in the crank.
In the normal position of the transfer device, that is to say when the tube pieces 4 are stacked on the delivery table, the piston 46, the piston rods 43, and the cranks 46 assume the position shown in FIGURE 5. After the tipping of the frame 13 into the horizontal position, the locking bolt 27 is drawn back in order to transfer the bundle of tube pieces to the conveyor belt 9 or 10, so that the table halves 14 and 15 open up (the opened table halves are shown in chain-dotted lines in FIGURE Through the opening up of the table halves, the cranks 46 are swung correspondingly through 90, so that the guide bolts 47 now lie at the outer end of the slots 45. In order to close the table halves, compressed air is passed into the outer working chambers of the pneumatic cylinders 41, 42, whereby the pistons 40 are moved inwards and the guide bolts 47 are moved by the draw members 44. On closing, the table halves press back the locking bolt 27, which has returned immediately into its locking position after the release of the table halves, by striking against its bottom wedge surface. Under the action of its spring 28, the locking bolt then immediately resumes its locking position. The pistons 44) with their piston rods 43 and the draw members 44 also return to the position shown in FIGURE 5 after the closing of the table halves through the introduction of compressed air into the other working chambers of the cylinders 41.
FIGURES 7 and 8 show another example of construction of the transfer device according to the invention, which corresponds essentially to the embodiment illutrated in FIGURES 3 to 6. Like reference numerals will therefore be used for like parts. In contrast to the first embodiment, the pivot pins of the frame 13 are not disposed at the end of the frame but in or near the axis of gravity of the rockable parts, thus permitting swinging with minimum expenditure of force. The pivot pins are designated by 49 and 50 (see FIGURE 8). The lever 36 is fastened to the free end of the pivot pin 50. Otherwise, the tipping of the frame and the opening and closing of the table halves are carried out in the same manner as in the example of construction of the transfer deyice illustrated in FIGURES 3 to 6, so that a repetition of the description will not be necessary here. 2
The invention is not restricted to the embodiments illustrated, but may be modified in various ways without departing from the principle of the invention. Thus for example the table plate may be in the form of a grid, grating, or comb. When a divided table plate is used the table plate halves do not need to extend over the entire table surface, but may leave between them a larger or smaller gap, so that the bundle of tube pieces is held only at the side edges by the table plate. The table plate may also be constructed as a divided plate slidable approximately parallel to the frame surface, so that a reduction of constructional height is possible. The table plate halves of the delivery table may then be held on the frame to be slidable outwards in opposite directions.
What I claim is:
1. In an apparatus for producing bags or socks, which comprises a tube forming device, a bottoming device and means for feeding tube sections made in said tube forming device to said bottoming device, said tube sections feeding means comprising in combination, at least one delivery table and transport means adapted to cooperate with said delivery table, said delivery table being composed of two oppositely facing table halves and a supporting frame, each of said halves being pivotally mounted at their respective remote opposite ends in said supporting frame, said frame being pivotally mounted about a fixed axis in walls of said tube sections feeding means in a direction transverse to the pivoting movement of said halves, said frame together with said delivery table being in a first position inclined downwardly away from the outlet end of said tube forming device for receiving a plurality of said tube sections thereon, said frame being adapted to pivot to a second position through the angle of inclination thereof, said second position lying in a horizontal plane which is coplanar with said fixed axis, and said table halves being adapted to pivot into a plane perpendicular to the plane of said frame for depositing a plurality of said tube sections onto said transport means.
2. The tube sections feeding means according to claim 1, including locking bolt means reciprocally movably mounted in said supporting frame, said locking bolt means being adapted to lock said table halves into position in the plane of said supporting frame and to selectively release said table halves, whereby said table halves swing about their respective pivots to open downwardly.
3. The tube sections feeding means according to claim 2, including crank means operatively connected to said supporting frame and to said table halves, said crank means being adapted to close said table halves in cooperation with said locking bolt means.
4. The tube sections feeding means according to claim 3, wherein said crank means comprise a pair of double acting pistons respectively reciprocally mounted in a pair of pneumatic cylinders, each one of said pair of double acting pistons having a slide means secured to their free ends, a pair of cranks respectively secured to said pair of table halves at one of their ends and being respectively slidably disposed in said means at the other one of their ends.
5. The tube sections feeding means according to claim 1, wherein the pivoting axis of said frame is positioned near one of the ends of said frame.
6. The tube sections feeding means according to claim 1, wherein said frame is pivotally mounted about an axis passing substantially through its center of gravity.
