(Cl. 222-183) The present invention generally relates to new and useful improvements in dispensers particularly although not necessarily, for draught beer and has for its primary object to provide, in the manner as hereinafter set forth, a novel combination and arrangement whereby such a beverage may be marketed as a complete refrigerated package or unit ready for immediate use.

Another highly important object of the invention is to provide a refrigerated beverage package or unit of the aforementioned character for individual use indoors or outdoors at picnics and other gatherings and which is readily portable for transportation and to be carried to the desired location.

Still another important object of the present invention is to provide an improved portable draught beer dispensing package or unit which dispenses with the usual coil boxes, rods, pumps, etc.

Other objects are to provide an improved refrigerated beer dispenser of the character set forth which is comparatively simple in construction, strong, durable, compact, of light weight, attractive in appearance and which may be manufactured at low cost.

These together with other objects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

FIGURE 1 is a perspective view, showing a portable self-contained draught beer dispensing package or unit constructed in accordance with the present invention;

FTGURE 2 is a perspective view of the upper portion of the dispenser with the keg omitted and showing the cover removed from the box or cabinet;

FIGURE 3 is a top plan view of the device with most of the cover broken away and showing portions of the box or cabinet in horizontal section;

FIGURE 4 is a vertical sectional view, taken substantially on the line 44 of FIGURE 3; and

FIGURE 5 is a detail view in perspective of the gas tank or bottle supporting shelf.

Referring now to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the present invention which has been illustrated comprises a generally square box or cabinet of suitable dimensions which is generally designated by reference numeral 6. The cabinet 6 includes spaced inner and outer walls 8 and 10, respectively, between which is a suitable heat insulating material, as indicated at 12.

The cabinet 6 further includes a bottom 16, a front wall 18, a back wall and side walls 22. The cabinet 6 still further includes an open top and removably mounted thereon is a cover 24 of the slip type, said cover including heat insulating material 26.

The cabinet 6 is for the reception of a conventional beer keg as indicated at 28. A conventional spigot is mounted in an upper corner portion of the front wall 18 of the cabinet 6. A flexible tube or hose 32 of a suitable plastic or other material has one end connected to the spigot 30 in the cabinet 6. This is indicated at 34. The other end portion of the tube or hose 32 is connected to the usual fitting 36 on the lower portion of the keg 28.

Mounted in a rear corner portion of the cabinet 6 is a generally triangular shelf, bracket or tray 38 for a bottle or tank of gas 40. The shelf or tray 38 is mounted on the back wall 20 and one of the side walls 22 of the cabinet 6 at a suitable elevation. As shown to advantage in FIGURE 5 of the drawing, the shelf or tray 38 includes a generally triangular bottom plate 42 having a depending angulated flange 44 depending from the corner portion thereof. Rising from the outer edge or periphery of the plate 42 is a retaining flange 46 for the gas bottle or tank 40. Flange i6 terminates in outwardly turned end portions providing ears 4%. The elements &4. and 48, it will be noted, are apertured.

It is thought that the use of the unit will be readily apparent from a consideration of the foregoing. Briefly, the barrel or keg 28 is placed in the cabinet 6 and connected to the spigot 30 by the hose 32. A hose 5%) is then used to connect the gas tank or bottle 4t? to the top of the keg 2%, as indicated at 52. The cabinet 6 is then packed with ice around the keg 2%. The insulating cover 26 is then mounted on the cabinet 6. All this may be done at the brewery and the complete refrigerated package is ready for shipment and use. To facilitate handling, the side walls 22 of the cabinet 6 are provided with suit able handles 54-. Any suitable means may, if desired, be provided for positively securing the insulated cover 26 in position on the cabinet 6. The upstanding flange or wall 46 of the bracket 33 retains the gas bottle or tank 40 on the plate 42. It will be observed that in the embodiment which has been shown, the tray or bracket 38 is located at such a position that the cover 26 will prevent the bottle or tank 40 from rising sufficiently to clear the upstanding flange or wall 46.

The foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention as claimed.

What is claimed as new is as follows:

1. A portable, refrigerated beverage dispensing package comprising a generally square cabinet having an open top, a keg of beer mounted in the cabinet, a spigot mounted on a vertical wall of the cabinet, a hose connecting the spigot to the lower portion of the keg, a tray mounted in the cabinet at an intermediate point, said tray comprising a generally triangular plate mounted in a corner portion of the cabinet in edge-abutting engagement with adjoining walls thereof, said tray further comprising an upstanding retaining flange for the tank on the free edges of the plate, said tray still further comprising outwardly angulated ears on the ends of the flange and an angulated depending flange on the corner portion of the plate, a gas tank mounted in the tray, a hose connecting the gas tank to the top portion of the keg and a removable cover on the cabinet, said cover being engageable with the tank for retaining same in the tray.

2. The combination of claim 1, said ears and said angulated flange abutting said adjoining walls and having apertures therein for the passage of fasteners.

1. A PORTABLE, REFRIGERATED BEVERAGE DISPENSING PACKAGE COMPRISING A GENERALLY SQUARE CABINET HAVING AN OPEN TOP, A KEG OF BEER MOUNTED IN THE CABINET, A SPIGOT MOUNTED ON A VERTICAL WALL OF THE CABINET, A HOSE CONNECTING THE SPIGOT TO THE LOWER PORTION OF THE KEG, A TRAY MOUNTED IN THE CABINET AT AN INTERMEDIATE POINT, SAID TRAY COMPRISING A GENERALLY TRIANGULAR PLATE MOUNTED IN A CORNER PORTION OF THE CABINET IN EDGE-ABUTTING ENGAGEMENT WITH ADJOINING WALLS THEREOF, SAID TRAY FURTHER COMPRISING AN
