(Cl. 2-2) My invention relates to boats and more particularly relates to boats which can be easily assembled or disassembled as desired.

It is an object of my invention to provide a new and improved boat of the character indicated which can be driven by a removable outboard motor.

Another object is to provide a new and improved boat of the character indicated which employs two detachable hulls.

All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of my invention will either be explained or will become apparent when this specification is studied together with the accompanying drawings wherein:

FIGURE 1 is a perspective view of my invention;

FIGURE 2 is a side view thereof;

FIGURE 3 is a top view of one of the bulls used in my invention;

FIGURE 4 is an end view of the hull of FIGURE 3; and

FIGURES 5 and 6 show closure plates.

Referring now to FIGURES 14, the boat comprises two identical hulls 100 and 140. Each hull comprises a plexiglass bottom formed by a center flat horizontal plate 10, a first upwardly inclined plate 12 extending rearward and upward of plate 10, a second vertical plate 14 extending upward from the rear of plate 12, a third upwardly inclined plate 16 extending frontward and upward from plate and a fourth vertical plate 18 extending upward from the front of plate 16. The top horizontal edges of plates 18 and 14 are aligned. Opposite sides of all plates 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 are joined by vertical side pieces 20 and 22 which extend upward to the aligned top edges of plates 14 and 18 and extend downward in a curve below plate 16 to define portions below plate 10 which serve as runners 24. Side members 26 brace and support runners 24 against the bottom of plate 10.

First, second, third and fourth vertical partitions 26, 28, 30 and 32, parallel to plates 14 and 18 and having their top horizontal edges aligned with the top horizontal edges of plates 14 and 18 are secured to the bottom and side pieces. A first horizontal plate 34 extends between the top edges of plate 18 and partition 26 to define a first hollow sealed compartment 40. A second horizontal plate 36 extends between the top edges of plate 14 and partition 32 to define a second hollow sealed compartment 42. A first door 44 extends horizontally between the top edges of partitions 26 and 28 to define a first sealable or open hollow compartment 46. A second door 47 extends horizontally between partitions 30 and 32 to 3,200,420- Patented Aug. 17, 1965 define a second scalable or open hollow compartment 48.

Partitions 23 and 30 define an open compartment in which a person can sit or kneel.

Four horizontal spaced apart transversely extending wood members 51, 52, 54 and 56 are detachably secured between the two hulls, i.e., between side piece 22 of one hull and side piece 20 of the other. These members can be covered by a horizontal sheet 58 of plywood detachably secured thereto.

The two end members 50 and 56 are displaced inward from the front and rear vertical plates 18 and 14 respectively. A horizontal outboard motor support frame 60 also of wood is detachably secured to member 56 and side pieces 22 of one hull and 26 of the other hull to complete the boat.

If desired compartments 46 and 48 can be temporarily sealed for sunbathing by placing a horizontal wood plate over and between the appropriate partitions.

When the boat is not used, it can be readily disassembled and placed on a trailer for easier carrying.

While I have described my invention with particular reference to the drawings, my protection is to be limited only by the terms of the claims which follow.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. A boat comprising first and second hulls and means detachably securing said hulls together, each hull having a bottom having front and rear vertical plates extending upward therefrom and side pieces secured to opposite sides of said bottom and said plates extending upward to the top of said plates and extending downward below said bottom, the portions of said pieces between the bottom and the bottom edge of said pieces serving as runners, said bottom edge being comprised of flat surfaces defining as viewed from an exterior side of a hull an upwardly concave bottom edge.

A boat as set forth in claim 1 wherein said means comprise a plurality of spaced apart parallel horizontal members secured detachably at one end to one side piece of one hull and at the other end to the opposite side piece of the other hull, said members extending transversely between said hulls.

-3. A boat as set forth in claim 2 wherein each of said hulls contains separate front and rear hollow sealed com partments.

4. A boat as set forth in claim 3 wherein a horizontal sheet is detachably secured to the top edges of said members to cover same.

5. A boat as set forth in claim 4 wherein each bottom is a horizontal sheet of plexiglass.

Claims (1)

1. A BOAT COMPRSING FIRST AND SECOND HULLS AND MEANS DETACHABLY SECURING SAID HULLS TOGETHER, EACH HULL HAVING A BOTTOM HAVING FRONT AND REAR VERTICAL PLATES EXTENDING UPWARD THEREFROM AND SIDE PIECES SECURED TO OPPOSITE SIDES OF SAID BOTTOM AND SAID PLATES EXTENDING UPWARD TO THE TOP OF SAID PLATES AND EXTENDING DOWNWARD BELOW SAID BOTTOM, THE PORTIONS OF SAID PIECES BETWEEN THE BOTTOM AND THE BOTTOM EDGE OF SAID PIECES SERVING AS RUNNERS, SAID BOTTOM EDGE BEING COMPRISED OF FLAT SURFACES DEFINING AS VIEWED FROM AN EXTERIOR SIDE OF A HULL AN UPWARDLY CONCAVE BOTTOM EDGE.
