FRIEDRICH W. HEINIG, OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN.
FUR-CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 328,673, dated October 20, 1885.
Application filed March 11, 1885, Serial No. 158,494. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRIEDRICH WV. HEINIG, of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee, and in the State of \Visconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fur- Preserving Cases; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My invention'relates to devices for storing furs and valuable clothing and protecting the same from injury by moths and other insects.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a vertical longitudinal section of a receptacle embodying my invention, and Figs. 2 and 3 are details.
A is a receptacle that may be of any shape and of any material that is impervious to air.
B is a cover for the same, in the center of which is a tube, C, having a seat, 0, for a valve, C. The upper end of this tube projects above the cover B, and is screw-threaded to receive the lower internally screw-threaded end of the cylinder of an air-pump, D, which has the usual piston, d, and sucker d, as well as an outletvalve, (F. The cover B may also be provided with an inlet-cock, E, and the joints are packed with rubber washers f.
When the clothes are ready for storing, they are placed in the receptacle on shelves G,
which latter are disk-shaped, and have each a central opening, that fits over a spindle or stand, G, and then the air is pumped out of the receptacle, the air-pump is removed, and a plug of rubber or other suitable material is placed in the mouth of the tube C. Clothing packed in this way can never be reached by insects, and may be preserved for an indefinite period.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the air-tight receptacle A, having shelves for the reception of furs, &c., with the cover B, having tube C, provided with valve -seat 0 and valve 0, said tube projecting above the cover and being adapted for connection with an air-pump, and the inlet-cock E and washer f, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wiscousin, in the presence of two witnesses.
FRIEDRICH W. HEINIG. Witnesses:
S. S. STOUT, H. G. UNDERWOOD.
