- HAME FASTENER. No. 327,177.. Patented Sept. 29, 1885.
j yfl WITNESSES INVENTOR M7 9 ATTORNEYS.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL KILLEBREW, OF BROVNSVILLE, TENNESSEE.
HAME-FASTENER.
SPLGIPICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 327,177, dated September 29, 1885.
Application filed July .20, 1885. (No model.)
To aZZ whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL KILLEBREW, of Brownsville, in the county ofHeywood and State of Tennessee, have invented a new and Improved Hame-Fastener, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved hame-fastener which does not cut the collar or get loose when once fastened.
The invention consists in the combination, with two levers pivoted together and having hooks on the free ends, of a strap provided at one end with a hook, and having a series of corrugations, in each of which a slot is formed.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure l is a side View of my improved hame-fastener. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view of the same on the line a: 00, Fig. l.
The flat lever A is provided at one end with a hook, B, and at the opposite end with the fork G, and between the prongs of the fork a lever, D, is pivoted, which has a downwardlyprojecting hook, E, on its free end, both levers A and D being slightly curved at the pivoted ends.
A ring or chain-link, F, is held on the hook B of the lever A.
A metal strap, G, having a hook, H, on one end, is provided with a series of corrugations, J, in each of which a slot, K, is formed ex tending in the direction of the length of the strap.
L is the pole-strap ring. The hooks B and H are passed through links, rings, or eyes on the lower endsof the hames, and the lever D is passed through one of the slots K of the strap G a greater or less distance from the free end of such strap, and then the lever'D is passed through the pole-strap ring L. The lever D is swung up to the lever A, and the ring F is swung over the hook E, thus locking the two levers D and A together, and holding the pole-strap ring L in one of the corrugations K, as shown.
The hames can be tightened more or less by passing the lever I) through a slot, K, a greater or less distance from the free end of the strap G.
The fastening can he closed and opened very easily and rapidly, and holds all parts securely.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination, with the lever A, having a hook on one end, of the lever D, pivoted to the other end and provided with the hook E, the chain-link F, and the strap G, provided with a hook, H, and having corrugations J, and slots K in the corrugations, substantially as herein shown and described.
I SAMUEL KILLEBREVV.
