ROLLER-STAND FOR COMBING-MACHINES.
fiPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 314,406, dated March 24, 1885.
Application filed November 24, 1884. (No model Patented in Eng'and June 30, 1883, No. 3,248.
1'0 alt who/rt it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN HENRY WHITE- HEAD, of Leeds, in the county of York, England, have invented a new and useful improvement in machinery for combing wool, cotton, flax, silk, and other fibrous substances, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
My improvement has reference to combingmachines, in which drawing-off rollers and leathers are employed for drawing off the fibers from the pins of the combs, the object of my improvement being to provide an arrangement whereby the roller-stands can be retained in position, and also readily released when the leathers require changing, or when anything occurs in which the rollers and leathers require attention.
Hitherto the roller-stands have been carried and fixed together by screws or bolts, so 7 at is the bottom stand, having an upright bar, I), attached thereto by means ofscrews or bolts 0, in the ordinary way. The upper stand, (I, is secured to the vertical bar 1) by means of the stud c and catchf, the stud e passing through an open slot in the top of the bar I). arrangement the top stand, d, is easily and quickly released by withdrawing the catch f away from the stud e,(which it embraces when the stand is fixed in position, as shown.) This operation is effected by the attendant, so that the leathers and rollers can be changed or removed or otherwise attended to. when required without dilficulty or much loss of time. The slot in the catch f is formed to such a curve that it tightens against the stud e when pushed over the latter, being thereby firmly retained 5 in position.
1 claim as my invention The combination, with the rollers and stationary roller-stand a, of the fixed upright barb, the catch f, stud e, and top stand, (Z, 50
substantially as set forth.
