In constructing my machine a suitable frame (a) is formed at the center of which, across the to-p, there is a cross piece (af), under this cross piece an elleptic spring (b)y formed like a common elleptic carriagel spring is affixed. T10 the under half of said spring a universal joint is connected' (more clearly shown in Fig. 2) by which a vertical arm (c and 0') is joined to it; this arm is in two parts divided horizontally, the lower one (c) having a hole in its upl per end into whichY a female screw is inserted; the upper one is furnished with a male screw by which the two arms are connected, and kept the required distance apart. On the lower end of the arm a transverse bar (d) is jo-inted which has a handleat each end either of which can be elevated the other being depressed; from this bar two projections descend which serve for bearings for the journals of a roller (c) there may be also a framework (f) Vattached to the bar above to steady it. Below the roller (e) above named, on.` the foundation of the Jframe of the machine there is a concave (g) of theusual construction. .i
To operate this machinea side ofleather is placed onfthe concave and Vthe roller (e) is drawn back and forth o-ver every part'oi' it the proper pressure being-regulated by lengthening or contracting the arm.V
lVhat YI claim as my invention is- The combination of the elleptic spring (b) with the leather roller c) in the manner described or in any yother manner substantially the same'. i'
