This invention relates to new and useful improvements in childrens playthings, and it has for its object to provide a toy that, due to its fascinating features, such as brightly colored parts, and reversely spinning stars would attract childrens attention, and especially appeal to smaller children such as those in the ages fiom 2 to 6 years, while, of course, older children may also derive much pleasure from playing with this device,

The device may be made of any transparent suitable material, preferably plastics.

With the above and other objects in View, this invention consists of the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, hereinafter fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, and in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts, and in which:

Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral 10 indicates the base of the device to which a front wall 12 and a rear Wall 14 are secured in any convenient manner; a member 16 indicates an over-all cover of the space between said two Walls.

The device or housing has therein a front partitioning wall 18 and a rear partitioning wall 20; thus said walls form a front enclosure 22, and a rear enclosure 24.

A flat slightly curved member 26 is arranged across the partitions or enclosures 22 and 24- by being inserted in a finely cut slit in the partition wall 20, as said member at the same time may be secured firmly to the latter by glue.

The purpose of said member 26 is to assist the respective balls to strike at stars on the opposite sides of these in order to provide reverse movements of said stars, and return the balls to their former position.

A spinning star 28 is arranged in the front enclosure 22, and a second spinning star 30 in the rear enclosure 24 as both starts are mounted on a shaft 32, with spacers 34 provided on each side thereof.

The front wall 12 and front partition wall 18 are each formed with a small cut out 42 to permit a lever 36, when tapped to actuate balls 48 arranged in the front enclosure 22; while the rear Wall 14 and rear partition wall 20 are also made with a small cut out 40 to enable a lever 38, when tapped, to actuate balls in the rear enclosure 24.

At the bottom in each enclosure 22 and 24 are slanting tracks for the balls to return to their respective places or corners; thus the track 46 is in the front enclosure, While the track 2-4 is in the rear enclosure.

The device may be played by one or two children, who tap the levers 36 and 38 causing the balls 48 and 50, respectively, to jump up and hit a star in the corresponding enclosures 22 or 24, setting said star spinning; and if the levers 36 and 38 are tapped at the same time, said stars will then spin in opposite or reverse directions, tlfilrgby causing quite a sensation to the mind of a little c It is obvious that changes may be made in the form and construction of the device as described herein and I do not, therefore, wish to limit myself to the exact construction shown and described herein.

What I claim as my device, and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States, is:

A device comprising, in combination, a housing having a front and a rear wall formed with small cut-outs therein, a dome-shaped top, two partitioning walls Within the housing, whereby to form enclosures, said latter walls being formed with small cut-outs therein, a shaft through the partitioning walls, star-shaped members mounted on said shaft, one within each enclosure, respectively, and made to move or rotate reversely, tracks mounted Within the enclosures and slanting in opposite directions, balls disposed at the ends of said tracks, levers arranged in said cut-outs in the Walls and partitions and adapted, when tapped, to actuate said balls to strike the star-shaped members on opposite sides, whereby to rotate the latter in opposite directions, and a member inserted through said partitions for assisting the return of the balls.
