One of the object of this invention is to provide a perforation cut through the garment behind which perforation is detachably mounted a monogram piece of varying color, design and configuration for modifying the overall appearance of the garment.

Another object is to provide a cut-out portion through the chest portion of the dress behind which is detachably secured a monogram piece recessed behind the cut-out portion to provide a shadow box effect for the out face of the monogram piece.

Further features and advantages of this invention will appear from a detailed description of the drawings in which:

Fig. l is a perspective view showing the garment including the features of this invention as worn.

Fig. 2 is an enlarged fragmentary view of the shadow box structure shown in Fig. 1.

Fig. 3 is an enlarged view of the monogram pieces demountably secured to the garment behind the shadow box perforation.

Fig. 4 is a section on the line 4-4 of Fig. 2.

As an example of one embodiment of this invention there is shown a garment comprising a dress including a skirt 10 and blouse 11. The blouse has a perforation or cutout 12 formed through the material thereof defined by the edges 13, 14, 15 and 16 of the cut-out which may take various desired forms such as a diamond, spade, club,

sates Patent ice heart, etc. The blouse 11 immediately behind the edges and adjacent thereto is built up by suitable reinforcing 17.

Suitable demountable fastening devices such, for example, as the snaps 18 demountably secure the removable monogram piece 19 to the reinforced portions 17 on the inner side of the blouse 11. By this construction the surface 20 of the monogram piece 19 is substantially recessed below the front surface 21 of the blouse so as to give a marked shadow box effect at 22 to effect a striking and unusual appearance for the dress.

While the apparatus herein disclosed and described constitutes a preferred form of the invention, it is also to be understood that the apparatus is capable of mechanical alteration without departing from the spirit of the invention and that such mechanical arrangement and commercial adaptation as fall Within the scope of the appendent claim are intended to be included herein.

Having thus fully set forth and described this invention What is claimed and desired to be obtained by United States Letters Patent is:

The combination with a garment including a skirt and a blouse, a perforation formed in said blouse having a plurality of edges formed thereby, reinforcing members attached to the inside surface of said blouse around said perforation and adjacent said edges, fastening devices peripherally spaced about said perforation and mounted on the outside face of said reinforcing members, a monogram piece of greater peripheral extent than said perforation and equal to the peripheral extent of said reinforcing members, and fastening devices on the outwardly facing surface of said monogram piece matingly engaging said fastening devices on said reinforcing members so that the thickness provided by said reinforcing members and said mating fastening devices inwardly off-sets said outwardly facing surfaces of said monogram piece from the outer face of said blouse to cause a shadow box effect of said monogram piece on said blouse.
