Description
March 8, 1960 /N VE N TOR United States Patent O NURSING APPLIANCE Arve Krlstoifersen, Roa, Oslo, Norway Application April 23, 1956, Serial No. 580,057
1 Claim. (Cl. 21S-11) The present invention relates to improvements in nursing bottles.
A main object of the invention is to provide a novel and improved baby's nursing appliance of simple construction by which the infant may be fed without the use of a teat.
A further object of the invention is to provide an improved nursing appliance with flow adjustment means for providing a substantial continuous iiowV of fluid to Athe infant while nursing.
According to the invention there is provided a stopper to be fitted into the neck opening of the nursing bottle,
' the stopper having at its outer end a spoonshaped portion,
and being provided with a uid conducting channel leading to the spoon portion and an air conducting channel admitting air to the nursing bottle. The air conducting channel opens at the upper side of the stopper at a suitable distance from the bottle neck, wherebyit is possible to open or to close the air conduct with one uger adjusting thereby the fluid liow to the spoon.
The nursing of infants without the use of a teat is often very Vdiflcult, it being as a rule necessary to use a spoon and the least movement of the infant causing a spilling of the liquid food. When using the present invention no food can be spilled and the ow of the fluid to the infant is continuous, which has a quieting etect on the infant. y
For a further understanding of the invention, reference is to be had to the following description and the ac- Patented Mar. 8, 19960y v stantially ush with the interior surface of the spoon.
Directly opposite to the said uid conducting channel Y 5 and to the spoon portion 4 there is disposed an air conducting channel 6 opening at the upper side of the stopper at a suitable distance from the bottle neck. By this arrangement of the air conducting channel 6, it is possible to open or to close with one finger the air conduct, whereby the fluid ilow from the fluid conducting to the spoon portion may be easily controlled.
I claim: Y Y
In combination with a nursing bottle having an open neck, a stopper made of hard rubber tted into the bottle neck opening, a spoon-shaped portion arranged on said stopper at the end jutting from the bottle neck, a fluid conducting channel disposed in said stopper and opening at the inner end of the spoon-shaped portion and substantially iushV with the interior surface of the v latter, an air conducting channel arranged opposite to the fluid conducting channel and opening at the upper side of the stopper at a distance from the bottle neck, whereby to regulate the fluid ow to the spoon-shaped portion by opening or closing the air conducting channel with one finger.
