WITNESSES: INVENTDE.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
IVILLIAM DIOKIE, OF GILLESPIE, ILLINOIS.
TAG-HOLDER.
' SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 299,753, dated June 3, 1884.
Application filed April s, 1884. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM DIOKIE, a citizen of the United States, and aresident of Gillespie, in the county of Macoupin and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tag-Holders; andI do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
My invention has relation to tag hooks or holders for attaching tags or labels to fibrous or other fabrics; and it consists in the construction, as an article of manufacture, of'the improved tag-hook, which will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
is left straight, as shown at A, the opposite ends of the said straight part being bent to form spring-loops B, consisting either of a single or' double coil, after which the free. end of the wire is bent to form a larger single loop, 0, the hook D of which will fit between the coils of the spring-loop B.
In using this device one of the hooks D a is hooked into the fabric to be marked, and the tag or label (shown at T)is similarly hooked into theopposite end. The spring-coilsB cause the free ends of the hooks D to bear against said coils, so that the hooks cannot become accidentally detached from the label or from the goods to which the label is aflixed.
Having thus described my invention,I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States As an improvedarticle of manufacture, the double-pointed tag hook or fastener herein shown and described, the'same consisting of a double-pointed piece of wire, A, bent at 0pposite ends to form the spring-coils B B and loops 0 0, having pointed hooks D, the points of which are held by the tension of the spring coils up against the same, substantially as and for the purpose herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereunto afiixed my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
WILLIAM DIOKIE.
