(Cl. 206-175) This invention relates in general to new' and useful improvements in home utility devices, and more specifically to a sanitary bag for encasing a syringe both for storage and for use.

In practically every household there is a syringe which is used from time to time. If the syringe is used quite often, it is normally found hanging on the back of the bathroom door in a very unsightly condition. On the other hand, if it is only used at intervals, the syringe is stored in some closet with the various components of the syringe scattered all over the closet. In either situation, the condition of the syringe is undesirable.

It is therefore the primary object of this invention 'to provide a sanitary bag for the storage of a syringe, the bag being so constructed whereby the syringe is completely encased in the sanitary bag while being stored and the syringe may be suspended from a door or other type of support when in operation while remaining in the sanitary bag, the sanitary bag being so constructed whereby the hose of the syringe may pass out through a lower portion thereof.

Another object of this'invention is'to provide a sanitary bag for housing a syringe both during storage and-during the operation thereof, the sanitary bag being provided with a plurality of pockets which are of such a nature whereby the necessary supplies and accessories used with the syringe may be readily stored with the syringe at all times so that the syringe is availablefor immediate use.

Another object of this invention is toprovide a sanitary bag for housing a syringe, the sanitary bag ha'v'ing formed on the front wall thereof a plurality of pockets for receiving accessories, the sanitary bag also'inc'luding a separate panel which overlies the rear wall thereof, which panel is provided with additional pockets for storing'supplies which are used in conjunction'with the sanitary bag, the panel having a portion thereof adapted to overlie the top wall of the sanitary bag and receive the syringe hanger whereby the syringe, when'supportedfrom a suitable support, will support not only the sanitary bag, but also the rear panel thereof.

A further object of this invention is to provide a sanitary bag for use in conjunction with a syri nge'the sanitary bag including a top wall, a bottom wall, a front wall, a rear wall and side walls, one of the side walls having an access opening therein to facilitate the positioning and removal of-the syringe, the top wall beingprovided with a central opening adapted to permit the passage of the syringe hanger whereby the syringe may be supported while positioned within the sanitary bag, and the lower portion of the sanitary bag being provided with an opening for the hose of the-syringe-whereby the syringe may be used while positioned in the sanitary bag and "the hose thereof lead out of the sanitarybag -as is necessary in the use of thesyring'e.

These together with otherobjects and advantages which will become subsequently apparent reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed", reference being had to the accompanying: drawings forming a part hereof, where-in like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and 'inwhich FIGURE 1 is a front perspective view of'the sanitary bag and shows the general details thereof, the sanitary being suspended by meansof theisyringe;

FIGURE 7 is an enlarged vertical sectional view taken Referring now to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that there is illustrated the sanitary bag which isthe subject of this invention, the sanitary bag being referred "to in general 'by the reference numeral 10. The sanitarybag '10 is generally rectangular in outline and ineludes a frontwall '12, a rear wall 14, a bottom wall 16, a top wall 18 and end walls 20 and 22. The various Walls of the sanitary bag are made of separate pieces of material with the exception of the fact that the end walls 20 and 22, the bottom wall 16 and the top Wall 18 are formed from an elongated strip of material. It is desired that the material to be used in'the formation of the sanitary bag 10 be a suitable lightweight plastic in order that it maybe readily'maintained. Furthermore, all joints of the sanitary bag are stitched together as by stitching 24 and at each corner of the bag 10 there is provided a suitable piping 26. The material used in forming the bag 10 and the piping 26 may be of any desired color and if desired the color of the piping 26 may be that which Will blend with the color of the material used in the formation of the bag 10'.

In order that a syringe, such as the syringe 28 may be positioned in the sanitary bag and conveniently removed therefrom, there is formed in the upper part of the side wall 20 and in the left part of the top wall 18 a. continuous access opening 30. The access opening 30 is normally closed by means of a slide fastener 32.

Also formed in the top wall 18 is a central opening 34. The central opening 34 is reinforced by a binding 36 secured to the underside of the top wall 18. The central openiugis' positioned for the reception of a hanger 38 of the syringe 28. It is to be noted that the excess opening 30 terminates in overlapping relation to the central opening- 34 so as to facilitate the positioning of the hanger-3R in'the'central opening'34.

"The lower part ofthe front wall 12 is also provided with a horizontally elongated opening '40. The opening 40 is "for the passage of a hose 42 which is partof the syringe 28. The opening 40 is also normally closed by means of a slide fastener 44. The opening 40 permits the hose and the accessory which may he carried thereby to be returned to the bottom of the sanitary bag 10. At the same time, the opening 40 may be closed except for that part thereof necessary for the passage of the hose 42 when the syringerzsis'in use.

Secured to the front wall 12 above the opening 40 is a pocket forming panel 46. The pocket forming panel 46 is stitched to the front wall 12 at the intersection of the front wall 12 with the side Walls 20 and 22. The lower edge of the pocket forming panel 46 is stitched to the front wall 12 as at 48. Furthermore, the pocket forming panel 46 is secured to the front wall 12 by a plurality of vertically extending stitching 50 to define a plurality of individual pockets 52, 54 and 56. The number of pockets may vary as is desired. The pockets defined by the pocket forming panel 56 are intended for use in storing the accessories for the syringe 28, as well as supplies. The pockets 52, 54 and 56 are covered by means of a cover panel 58 which extends horizontally across the front wall 12 and is stitched thereto above the pocket forming panel 46.

In order that certain supplies may be readily maintained available for use away from the sanitary bag 10, there may be provided individual supply receptacles, such as the supply receptacle 60. Each supply receptacle 60 is in the form of a tube having a closed bottom 62. Also, each supply receptacle 60 is provided with a strap 64 to facilitate the removal thereof from its associated pocket and to facilitate handling thereof.

In order that the sanitary bag may be suspended when the syringe 28 is not in use or under other conditions, there is formed within the sanitary bag 10 a straptype hanger 66. The hanger 66 is secured to the bag 10 at the intersection of the rear wall 14 and the top wall 18. When it is desired to use the hanger 66, it is swung up and through the central opening 34, as is best shown in FIGURE 3.

In addition to the specific elements of the bag 10, the present invention also includes a supply carrier which is referred to in general by the reference numeral 68. The supply carrier 68 is in the form of a detachable rear panel 70 having an upper horizontal portion 72 which normally overlies the top wall 18. Like the sanitary bag 10, the supplies carrier 68 will also be formed of a suitable plastic material.

The upper portion 72 is provided with a central opening 74 which may be aligned with the central opening 34. When the supply carrier 68 is in place and the syringe 28 is suspended from a suitable support, such as the support 76 of FIGURE 4, the hanger 38 of the syringe 28 may also be passed through the central openings 74 thus supporting the supply carrier 68. Incidentally, the central opening 74 is reinforced on the underside thereof by a suitable beading 78.

Suitably stitched to the rear surface of the panel 70 is an inner pocket forming panel 80 and an outer pocket forming panel 82. The inner pocket forming panel 80 defines a plurality of inner pockets 84, 86 and 88. The outer pocket forming panel 82, in conjunction with the inner pocket forming panel 80, forms a plurality of outer pockets 90, 92 and 94. These various pockets may be used for storing supplies of any types. When the sanitary bag 10 is in use, if desired, the supplies carrier 68 may be detached therefrom so as to make the supplies readily available to the user of the syringe 28. Furthermore, the material of the panel 70 may be used as a waterproof covering if necessary.

Although the various pockets secured to the panel 70 have been illustrated and described as being integral parts of the panel 70, it is to be understood that if it is so desired, these pockets may be formed directly on the rear wall 14 of the bag 10 or removably secured to the rear Wall 14 by means of conventional snap-fasteners. Furthermore, the various components of the invention, although having been described as being formed of a suitable light weight plastic, may be formed of any desired light weight, flexible and Washable material.

From the foregoing description of the present invention, it will be seen that there has been provided a very simple sanitary bag which is of such a nature whereby it may be used to readily store a syringe in such a manner that the syringe may be used without removing it from the sanitary bag. Furthermore, the sanitary bag is of such a construction whereby all of the accessories for the syringe and the supplies normally required in the use of the syringe may be kept together for immediate use.

The foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention as claimed.

What is claimed as new is as follows:

1. A sanitary bag for housing a syringe both during storage and use, said sanitary bag being generally rectangular in outline and including a front wall, a rear wall, side walls, a bottom wall and a top wall defining a generally rectangular unobstructed interior, a central opening in said top Wall for the passage of a syringe hanger, an opening in a lower portion of said front wall for the passage of a syringe hose, a closure for said opening in the front wall and normally closing said opening, and a supply carrier, said supply carrier including a panel disposed in face to face relation with said rear wall and having an upper portion overlying said top wall, said upper portion having a central opening aligned with said top wall opening for receiving the syringe hanger whereby said supply carrier is supported by the syringe hanger.

A sanitary bag for housing a syringe both during storage and use, said sanitary bag being generally rec tangular in outline and including a front wall, a rear wall, side walls, a bottom wall and a top wall defining a generally rectangular unobstructed interior, a central opening in said top wall for the passage of a syringe hanger, an opening in a lower portion of said front wall for the passage of a syringe hose, a closure for said opening in the front wall and normally closing said opening, and a supply carrier, said supply carrier including a panel disposed in face to face relation with said rear wall and having an upper portion overlying said top wall, said upper portion having a central opening aligned with said top wall opening for receiving the syringe hanger whereby said supply carrier is supported by the syringe hanger, a plurality of pockets for supplies formed on the rear surface of said panel.

3. A sanitary bag for housing a syringe both during storage and use, said sanitary bag being generally rectangular in outline and including a front wall, a rear wall, side walls, a bottom wall and a top wall defining a generally rectangular unobstructed interior, a central opening in said top wall for the passage of a syringe hanger, an opening in a lower portion of said front wall for the passage of a syringe hose, a closure for said opening in the front wall and normally closing said opening, and a supply carrier, said supply carrier including a panel disposed in face to face relation with said rear wall and having an upper portion overlying said top wall, said upper portion having a central opening aligned with said top wall opening for receiving the syringe hanger whereby said supply carrier is supported by the syringe hanger, a flexible strap type hanger secured to the interior of said bag and adapted to project through said top wall opening to support said bag during storage.

4. A sanitary bag for housing a syringe both during storage and use, said sanitary bag being generally rectangular and including a rear wall, a front wall, and a peripheral Wall interconnecting the front and rear walls, said peripheral wall having an opening in the top thereof for receiving a hanger for supporting the bag during use and storage, said front wall having an elongated horizontal opening adjacent the bottom thereof for passage of a swinge hose, a closure for said horizontal opening, a plurality of pockets mounted on said front wall above said horizontal opening for the storage of supplies, a flap overlying the upper ends of said pockets to conceal the contents thereof, said peripheral wall having an elongated opening therein providing access to the interior of the bag to facilitate the positioning and removal of the syringe, and a slider type closure for closing said access opening.
