STAY- ROLLER FOR SLDING DOORS.
SPECIPICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 298314, dated May 20, 1884.
Application filed December 153, 1883. (No model.)
To all whomi may concern:
Be it known that I, LE GRAND TERRY, of Horseheads, in the county of Chemung and State of New' York, have invented a new and Improved Stay-Boller for Sliding Doors, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention isto provide a new and inproved stay-roller for guiding the bottom of a slidng door. v
The inventon consists in the Construction and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
Reference is to be had to the acconpanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding part-s in all the figures.
Figure l is a plan View of my improved stay-roller. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of the same on the line x x, Fig. l, showing the roller applied to use; and Fig. 3 is an end View of the same.
The roller A, which has a transverselycurved rin1,A',is mounted on an npright spindle, B, the lower end of which is screwed into 7 the inner end of which arm is split longitudinally. 'A head, E, is formed on the upper end of the spindle B, which head rests on the top of the hnb of the roller. The spindle B is surrounded by a sleeve, F, resting on the collar C, on which sleeve the roller A rests. The collar O, which is made square to fit 011 the end of the arm D, is provided with agroove, a, in the upper surface of its bottom crosspiece, which groove may be parallel with the arm D, and is adapted to receive a key, G, for holding the collar in place. The arm D is driven into the wall, &(3., and is held in place securely by the spreadng of its split end,and prevented from turning. The collar Ocan be shifted on the arm D until the roller is in the desired place, and then the collar can be locked in place by means of the key G. By means of the screw spindle B the roller can be pressed on the upper end of the sleeve F, and can be held sufficiently firm to prevent rattling, at the same time pernitting the roller to revolve freely, and the screw also serves as a set-screw to hold the collar G in place on the arm D. The curved arin A' prevents nndue friction of the roller on the door H.
Having thns described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The combination, with the arm D, of the collar G on the same, which collar is provided with a groove, a, the key G, the spindle B, removably secured to said collar, and the roller A, mounted on the spindle, substantially as herein shown and described.
2. The combination, with the arm D, of the collar C on the same, the spindle B, screwed in the collar C, the sleeve F, surrounding the spindle, and the roller A, nounted on the spindle, substantially as herein shown and described.
3. The combination, with an arm, of a c0llar mounted adjustably on the same, and provided with a key for looking it in place, a spindle on the collar, and a roller mounted on the spindle, snbstantially as herein shown and described.
LE` GRAN D TERRY.
