Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification,
in which similar letters of reference indicate Two automatic pencils, A, of the usual construction, are united at their base ends by a tube, B, into the opposite ends of which the ends of the pencils are passed and fixed, either by pressing part of the tube into the pencil or in any other suitable manner. The tube B is provided between the ends of the pencil with two opposite longitudinal slots, 0, through which a transverse pin, D, passes, which has its ends fastened to a sleeve, E,
Fig. 4 is a sleeve E is pushed in the direction toward the front of the corresponding holder, whereby the corresponding lead or crayon will be pro jected a short distance in the same manner as in the usual automatic pencils, the spring G pressing the sleeve E back again immediately.
If desired, a pen-holder, H, can be united with a pencil by passing the end of the pencil into the end of the pen-holder tube, which is provided with the slots 0 and the sleeve E, having the pin D. in the manner described.
' The sleeve E is used in the manner described for projecting the lead or crayon from the pencil united to the pen-holder.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
