UNITED STA-TES PATENT.: OFFICE.
NATHAN i. DRYFoos, on FREMQNT, oHIo.
NECKTIE-FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part o fLetters Patent No. 294,597, dated March 4, 1884. Application filed December is, 1883. (Nomodemj To ftZZ whom t may concern,.-
Be it known that I, NATHAN L DRYroos, a citizen of the United Statesof America, residing at Fremont, in the county of Sandusky and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Necktie-Fasteners, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention pertains to an improvement in necktie-fasteners; and it consists in the metallic clamp A, having lap B, lap C, having prongs C', wings b and b', forming buttonholder D, and in the peculiar construction,
combination, and arrangement of the parts, substantially as hereinafter more fully shown and described.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of a necktie havingsecured thereto my improvement. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the reverse side thereof, as shown in Fig. l. Fig. 3 is a plan View of the metallic clamp unapplied.
In constructing my improvement in neck-v tie-fasteners my object is to produce a necktiefastener wherein the evils which have hitherto rendered neckties objectionable are avoided, notably the loss of the tie by Sundering of the fastening ofthe button-hole strap where sewed to the stock, and the enlargement of the button-hole by wear, and also to cheapen the cost of production.
To the necktie A, which may be constructe in any ordinary form, the clamp A is rigidly secured. The clamp A, as represented in Fig. 4, is struck out of thin sheet metal; and' in applying it to stock or necktie A the lap B is turned down against the inner face of the stock.
The holder D is formed by bending together the wings b. and b (shown in Fig. 4) until the edges of said wings meet at their upper terminal point, and the lower edges thereof are flared open, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3, thus leaving a daring opening between said wings, wherein the button is readily inserted in attaching the tie to the shirt, as shown in Fig. 2.
The lap C consists of the prongs C', which are bent over and secured against the inner face of the stock of the necktie, and as the outer ends of the prongsG diverge the lap B, when turned down, pro j ects between the prongs C on the inner face of the stock A, as shown in Fig. 2.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. A necktie-fastener consisting of metal` lic clamp A', having wings b and b', forming button-'holder D, lap B, and Alap C, having prongs C', substantially as shown, and for the purpose described.
2. In a necktie-fastener, the metallic clamp A', havingwings b and b', forming buttonholder D, and lap C, having prongs C, secured to the stock of the necktie, substantially as shown, and for the purposedescribed.
In testimony whereof' I aftix'my signature in Y presence of two witnesses.
l, NATHAN I. DRYFOOS.
Witnesses:
