LEMON-SQUEEZER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 281,378, dated July 1'7, 1883.

To all whom, it may concern..-

Be it known that we, LoUIs KYsER and ALFRED C. REX, of the city of Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improvement in Lemon-Squeezers, of which the following is a specification.

Our invention has reference to lemon-squeezers; and it consists in providing a rigid support of peculiar construction with a receptacle in which to squeeze the lemon, and a pivoted arm or lever carrying the squeezing-cup, as fully set forth in the following specific-ation and claim, and shown in the accompanying drawings, which form part thereof.

The object of our invention is to provide a cheaply-constructedlemon-squeezer, combined with a suitable lemoirslicer, the whole being secured to the same base and forming an article of manufacture.

In the drawings, `Figure 1 is a side elevation of our improved lemon-squeezer. Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation of same on linex x. Fig.3 is a sectional plan of same online y y.

A is the base-plate.

B and C are two upright supports, and are secured upon said bed-plates. These supports are respectively provided at their upper ends with sockets b c, preferably rectangular or square-shaped, in which are secured the ends of the cross piece D, having ring-piece E, flanged at its bottom, as shown at e, and prevents its turning. The receptacle or cup F, to receive the lemon, fits within the ring E, and is supported upon its upper surface by a flange, and may rest upon the iiange e at the bottom. The center part of the cup F is raised, as shown at F, forming the annular space F2. The raised part F may be grooved, as shown at f The top of said raised part F and thecup at bottom of said annular space are perforated, as shown at f. The glass to receive the lemon-juice ts under said cup. Pivoted to the upper end of support C is the lever I, to which is pivoted, at h, a cup-piece, II, in which is secured the expressing or squeezing cup G, having the hollow part h, adapted to Iit over the raised part Fl of cup F.

Secured to the bed-plate is a plate, J, having groove j, and to which is pivoted one end of the parallel bars K, oneof which is provided with a handle, k. To these parallel bars is pivoted a knife-plate, L.

We do not limit ourselves to the eXact c011- struction shown, as the devices may be made more compact and modified in various ways without departing from our invention.

The slices are then placed in the cup F and the juice expressed into the cup.

Having now described our invention, Awhat we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is*- In a lemon-squeezer, a baseplate, A, in combination with two uprights or standards, O B, each provided with a socket, b or c, closed on all sides but one, a cross-piece, D, carrying a ring, E, and fitting into the sockets b c, and

thereby supporting the uprights at the top,
