3 Claims. (C1. 211-33) 'lhis invamtion ralatas to a hat rast. Tha imvamtiom is particularly useful im tha supportimg of hats providad with brims whereby said brims ara supported above tha surfaces upom which tha hat rast stands.
lt is commom to support hats upom various typas of supports such as hooks, shelvas, and various othar typas of supports With such structures, howevar, thare is a tamdemcy for tha brirm of tha hat to strika tha shalf 01' to strika tha Wall upom which tha hook is placad, so that tha brim thus loses its attractiva curvature and tha hat bacomas distortad im appaaramce. Furthar, tha supports angaga omly a portiom of tha hat and thara is a temdancy t'or tha amgagad portiom to becoma distortad at tha poimt of amgagamamt. In tha oparatiom of tha structure, tha hat rast may ba placed upom a shalf 0r othar supportimg surfaca and tham a hat 10 may ba placed tharaom. By raason of tha inclimad wall 13, tha rast is adaptad to recaive a larga mumaer of hats of varyimg sizes. Tha hat is amgaged oml'y at tha immer band, which thus oifers protectiom at tha point whara tha hat is amgaged, so that m0 distortion of tha crowm or tha brim cam taka place. In tha avemt that tha band is covarad by perspiratiom, vemtilation for tha avaporatiom of tha parspiration is aflordad through tha imclimed slamtimg Windows or slots 14 and circulatiom of air cam taka place mot omly through such wimdows or slots, but also through tha base aperturas 17 and through tha apertures 26. No poimt of tha crowm and m0 poimt 0m tha brirm of tha hat is amgaged by tha rast, tha comtact betwaem tha rast and tha hat beimg limited to tha reimforcad band portiom 0m tha imterior of tha hat. Tha shapa of tha crowm and tha shapa of tha brim ara thus mot marrad or intarferad with durimg tha supportimg of tha hat 0m tha rast.
Withim tha compartrmemt providad by tha walls 18 and 19 0m tha imtarior of tha rast may be placad gloves, scarvas, hamdkerchiafs and othar articlas, and thase ara spaced imwardly from tha hat band by tha imwardly-imclimad solid wall 13 cf tha rast. The hat itsalf, wham supportad upom tha rast, providas tha covar for tha compartmant.
lf dasirad, tha compartmamt or box 18 may be formed intagrally with tha Wall 13, or tha two structures rnay ba formed saparately and may ba saparatad by am imclinad wall 21, as showm mora clearly im Fig. 4. If tha division lima 21 is provided, tha immer box may be lifted out and tha stnrctura rmay be used Without tha box 18 beimg amployad. As abova statad, tha immer box 18 may, if dasirad, ba formed imtegrally With tha wall 13 so that thara is but oma singla umitary structure.
In tha modification showm im Figs. 5 and 6, I provida am immer wall 22 which is somawhat elliptical im shape and provided with a bottorm Wall 23 having opan spacas 24 thareim. Such a structure provides a compartmemt usaful for holdimg gloves, scarves, hamdkeramiefs, and othar objects. The upper portion of Wall 22 is turmed dowmwardly and outwardly to provida a hat-supportimg rast 24a. Tha Wall 24a rmay be turmad outwardly at its bottom to provida a horizontal ladge 25. I prafer to provida tha rast 24a with a murmbar of slots or vemtilatiom opamimgs 26.
The bottom1 Wall 23 of tha structure may 0a aquippad With spacad lags 27 providimg a base for supporting tha hat rast upom a sheif or othar surface. I also prefer to provida tha flamge 25 With a pair of spaaad kmobs or studs 23 which ara emgageable with tha brackat for supportimg tha rast from a Wall, if it is dasirad.to hava a Wall support for tha rast. I also provide tha immer wall 22 With vertically-axtemdimg slots 29. Tims whan tha structure is im a supportimg positiom for recaivimg a hat, air may circuiata through tha outer inclimad Wall 24a and also through tha immer Wall 29, thus furmishing comrmumicatimg air curramts to every portiom of tha hat.
While, im tha foregoing spacificatiom, I hava Set forth specific structures in comsiderabla datail for tha purpose of illustratimg am ambodimemt of tha imvamtiom, it Will be umdarstood that such details of structure may be variad widely by thosa skilled im tha art without departing from tha spirit of my imvamtion.
I claim:
1. A hat rest device, comprising a base and an oval wall carried thereby extending upwardly and then curvecl downwardly and outwardly to provicle a flared hat-supporting flange, said flared outwardly supporting flange terminating in a horizontal flange spaced vertically and laterally from said base, said hat-supporting flange bein'g provided throughout with spaced apertures for the cir culation of air therethrough, and a platform c0nnecting the oval Wall supported by said base.
2. A hat rest device, comprising a base, a perforated platform carried by said base, a wall extending upwardly from said platform to provide a genorally vertical inner Wall and then extending downwardly and outwardly to provide an inclined outer Wall providing a Support adapted to be engaged by the band of a hat, said outer wali and said inner Wall being provided with spaced apertures for the circulation of ai1 therethrough and said outer Wall terminating at a point spaced above said base.
3. A hat rast device, comprising a molded, generally oval body providecl with a base having apertures therethrough, a hat rest wall supported by said base and being in the form of an invertecl V, tl1e outer wall of said support being inclinetl outwardly and downwardly and provided wit.h apertures, and said immer Wall being provided with an apertured bottom spaced upwardly from the bottorn of said base.
