SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 286,866, dated October 16, .1883.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WALTER S. THATCHER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Waverly, in the county of Tioga and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mattress-Frames; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of this invention, and is a perspective view. Fig. 2 is a section through the rocking bar and a part of the sidebar. p

This invention has relation to frames for woven-wire mattresses; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the rocking end bar and eyebolts, and the bearings for said bolts in the extended side bars of the frame, all as hereinafter set forth.

In the accompanying drawings, the letters a to designate the side bars of the frame, and

b the foot-bar, to which one end of the mattress c is attached. The other end of the mattress is attached to the rocking end bar, d, at the headof the frame. This end bar is seated in bearings e in the side bars, and is arranged Having described this invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,

A mattress-frame consisting of side bars provided with concave bearings e and perforated forward extensions, in combination with the oblique transverse rocking end bar, d,having its lower edge seated in the said bearings, its upper edge provided with I means for receiving the wire mattress or other fabric, and the eyebolts passing, respectively, through the side bars and rocking bar carrying adjusting-nuts, and a rigid cross-bar connecting the side bars at the opposite end, substantially as specified.
