TRAVELING-BAG.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 276,240, dated April 24, 1883. Application filed January 2, 1883. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ANDREW S. HALLIDIE, of the city and county of San Francisco, State of California, have invented an Improved Traveling-Bag; and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof.

My invention relates to an improvement in bags, such as are employed by travelers for conveying articles of clothing, and often of value. I

lt consists of a bag or receptacle formed in the usual or any convenient shape, and having the ordinary exterior covering material, inside of which is a lining of flexible wire-netting to prevent the material being cut through and the contents of the bag stolen.

A is a travelingdoag of any desired shape, and having the exterior material made of carpeting, enameled cloth, leather, or other substance. t

These bags are sometimes made flexible, so as to fold or roll up into small dimensions when not in use; but they are expansible to receive a considerable quantity of clothing, &c.

In order to render such bags safe, so that they may be used to transport articles of value, I employ a lining, B, of the same shape as the exterior bag, and made of a flexible wire-netting, which, while it prevents the bag being cutopen and the contents abstracted, will allow it to be folded or expanded nearly as freely as when made of the usual material, and within this may be the ordinary cloth lining, by which it is concealed from view or touch.

It will be manifest that my safety-lining can be applied to trunks or other receptacles with equal facility and similar results.

By providing this bag with a stout frame and a good look it will be perfectly burglarproof, and may be used to transport money or articles of value.
