Description
June 19, 1956 R. P. FISHER ROCK AND ORE JAW cRUsHERs Filed Dec. 18, 1952 2,751,158 ROCK AND ORE JAW CRUSHERS Robert P. Fisher, Los Angeles, Caif. Application December 1.8, 1952, Serial No. 326,624 2 Claims. (Cl. 24h-e262) This invention relates to rock and ore jaw crusers, and mor Among the salient objects of the present invention are:
To provide a Crusher of the character referred to in which the two main body members or jaws have their crushing faces formed in successively offset steps or areas toward the top, with a detachable and replaceable crushing face member for each step or area, and in which the thickness of each face member corresponds substantially to the depth of the step or ofset in the body or jaw member;
machine in any way;
Another object of the invention is to provide in such a crusher a back or abutment member for each of the ing them up and down, whereby such adjustment operates to move the regular jaw members to and from each other as said abutment members are adjusted, thus providing a simple means for adjusting the main jaw members to and from each other;
Another object of the invention is to provide an abutment member having inclined or angular abutment faces jaw member in the crushing operation.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following more detailed description of an embodiment of the invention, taken with the accompanying sheet of drawings, in which Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view through a Crusher embodying my invention;
Figure 2 is an end view of the machine, from the left hand end of Fig. 1;
Figure 3 is a fragmentary, enlarged view n section, to show the ball bearings on which the members move in connection with the crushing function; and
Figure 4 is a detail of one of the jaw face members, to show the slots or openings therethrough.
Referring now in detail to the drawings, the body of the top and at the bottom.
ln the right hand end of said body is an abutment member 8, having two inclined or angular abutment surfaces,
11 projecting out through an opening 12 in the end wall An anchoring lug member 13 is shown connected at its inner end, as at 17, with said jaw member 1.5, and is extended out through the end wall member '7, and providedr with a coiled spring 18, with a nut and washer, as at 19 for regulating the tension of the spring and the pull it exerts on the jaw member 15'.
At the opposite end of said frame or body is a second abutment member 20, having two angular surfaces, as 21,
ber 15 in a crushing action.
Ball bearing sets are shown in the inclined or angular surfaces, and these are designated 24', 24. A bolt 37 has one end threaded into a connecting shaft 38 extended between the jaws 23, 23, and its other end is connected with a ball bearing set and provided with a nut 39. The ball bearing set includes a plate 40, with a slot 40 for said bolt, and a plate 41 to which said bolt is connected members 20, from the eccentric 33.
Another bolt 42 has its threaded end in another cross shaft 43, connecting the two operating abutment members 20, 20, with its outer end connected through slot 44, in plate 45, and provided with a nut 46, securing it to an outer ball bearing plate 47.
The jaw members 15 and 23 have their adjacent faces formed with successive offset steps toward their upper ends, said offset steps being designated 15 and 23. Each step or offset is provided with a jaw face member, as 48, having slots 49 therethrough and having teeth-like faces, as shown in enlarged view in Fig. 4. The slots permit the dust and tine matter to work through and drop down between the side jaw members 1S, 15 and Under the Crusher jaws, 1 have shown an endless belt 50, running over a pulley 51, under the straight, parallel faces 52 and 53 of said jaws, for receiving and carrying the crushed material to any suitable place for discharge.
I do not limit the invention to the details of construction and arrangement here shown for explanatory purposes, except as I may be limited by the hereto appended claims forming a part of this specification.
I claim:
1. In a rock and ore Crusher, the combination with an abutment member having inclined bearing surfaces and a jaw member having corresponding bearing surfaces, all of said bearing surfaces being parallel, bearing balls between said parallel bearing surfaces, and power means for moving said abutment member up and down for transmitting through said inclined bearing surfaces lateral crushing movement to said jaw member, of means for connecting said abutment member and said jaw member 2O firmly together for relative sliding movement, said means comprising a bolt extending normal to said inclined bearing surfaces and having one end connected to said jaw member and its other end connected to said abutment member by means of a pair of plates extending parallel to all of said inclined bearing surfaces, and bearing balls interposed between said plates, said other end of the bolt being connected to one of said plates, the other plate being carried by said abutment member and having a slot therein through which said bolt extends and is movable during relative sliding movement between said abutment member and sai jaw member along their inclined bearing surfaces, and a horizontal ball bearing set beneath said jaw member for slidably supporting the latter in its said lateral movement.
2. A rock and ore crusher as defined in claim 1 in which said ball bearing set includes a pair of horizontal bearing members, bearing balls interposed between said bearing members, one of said bearing members having a slot extending in the direction of lateral movement of said jaw member, and a supporting bolt carried by said jaw member, said supporting bolt extending through said slot in said ore bearing member and being connected to the other bearing member.
